You know with Windows 98, when you start it up and that
window pops up, the user log in with the password? I always
just press cancel and the thing starts up, I don't use
different log-ins or anything.

Is there a way to get rid of this window coming up? It
didn't used to, but I was playing around with some settings
or something and now it comes up and I have to cancel it. Am
I making sense... it's 5AM, I may not be...

Try just pressing return without a password and it shouldn't
ask in future. If it continues to ask then the easiest
thing to do would be to go to the Microsoft website and
download Tweak UI for Windows 98. This lets you turn the
login feature off by auto logging you in.

yeah, TWEAKUI should do it...

or try this page http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/nopwd.html... which explains how to do
it in detail...like step by step....

Thats a good little site for all sorts of little computer
emergencies...

Ophecks-> listen up! you go in your control panel -> Network
then under "Primary network-logon" select "Windows Logon"
..BUT this may cause you to have to slect a username and
password, and that can result in some setups in windows may
be lost (but no important information)

And if you have a cable modem it can cause it to stop
working if you just have Windows Logon.

Ophecks......... fist of all get a crowbar...... then
locate your computer tower (case), make sure you are at that
login screen you want to dissapere.... then proceed in
beating the hell out of the case till it simply goes
away.... trust me... the login screen will not pop up on
that computer again :)

Thanks for the aid, my Aphexian brothers! I'm obsessive
compulsive, and I can't stand my computer having any crazy
little flaws like that.

sparing a handful of avatars.

why is it that hitting cancel at a LOGIN screen gets you
into the system? how is that helpful?
