Primal scream!

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-23 21:32 [#00001378]

What does everyone think of this band? their latest album
xtrmntr was awesome, if you guys havent checked it out im
sure youd like it, its a fuse of electronic and rock, a
little jazz, hiphop, its incredible..

Id Lab on 2001-03-23 21:43 [#00001380]

Loaded is still their best tune.

dont like......sorrrrrrry

i think their diversity is incredible. great psychadelia at
times.

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-24 01:26 [#00001408]

i agree Torley..I think they're one of the most interesting
bands now, every album is such a different affair..But they
did say their next album will be in the same vein as
xtrmntr, loud and angry, they say right now they have that
period of creativity and energy, so they're gonna take full
advantage of it..vanishing point is a great album too,
fueled by paranoia, wonderful!

Ross: Yes, shame it seems like it takes awhile (about 3
years or so, right?) between each of Primal Scream's albums.
But it must be hard work for them... they have lush, lush
arrangements just soaked in reverb at times and this thick,
vibrating guitar fuzzz which sometimes reminds me of Pink
Floyd in an odd way

Great stuff all the same

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-25 00:40 [#00001442]

yeah, it takes them usually 3 yrs between albums, so it is
kinda a long wait, but what they bring out is usually so
good it makes you forget about that..reminds you of pink
floyd? that's interesting, pink floyd are awesome, however
i'd say Primal scream are more akin to the camp that stuff
like the stone roses came out of

XTRMNTR is amazing! i was literally amazed when i first
heard it--definitely one of my top 5 albums of 2000. It's
perfect. my favorite track is "MBV Arkestra [If they move
kill 'em]"

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-29 03:22 [#00001804]

Kevin Shields is awesome..i love the track 'accelerator' too

crapnose from Montreal on 2001-03-29 03:32 [#00001807]

but of course. and who can forget "Kill all hippies"? also,
"Insect Royalty" and "Shoot Speed/Kill Light" are great.
every song is great. do you have the version with "I'm 5
Years Ahead of My Time"?

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-29 03:55 [#00001811]

no, ive heard that song though, and it's very neat..hiphop
spastic-like synth line, cool stuff

crapnose from Montreal on 2001-03-29 21:16 [#00001914]

yeah, i actually found the version with it for cheaper than
the retail which doesn't have it...so that's cool. it's a
cover, i think, but i forget who did the original...

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-30 01:27 [#00001926]

me too, i really like their song 'medicine' on vanishing pt.

Ross from Canada on 2001-03-30 01:27 [#00001927]

XTRMNTR is a brilliant piece of work...I especially the Jagz
Kooner version of Swastika Eyes and the two Kevin Shield
produced tracks (Accelerator and MBV Arkestra...the latter
has got to be one of the best remixes EVER of ANY track by
ANYBODY).

heard it once... liked it but i think their best is either
sceamadelica or vanishing point

Screamadelica is fantastic, I always see it scoring high
rankings on generic top 100 charts. I can see why. I haven't
got around to giving Xtrmntr a good listening but I'll make
a mental note to now. I'd better hurry though because my
mental notes don't last long.

screamadellica might be their best output for now, though
i'm not saying xtrmntr is bad....it's just bobby can't rap
;]

xtrmntr is alright but i always thought primal scream trying
to do the anarcho-punky thing was a bit embarrassing. i do
have a soft spot for a lot of their stuff though,
screamadelica is a great summer album, i always end up
listening back to back with u.f.orb for some reason... echo
dek is one of my favourite dub albums as well, ju-87 and
living dub are properly heavy, well worth getting if you
like that sort of thing
