i had a dream once. it was like an rpg in my mind.
there was a boy and a girl, they were brother and sister, i
think. and there was a robot with dread locks, and you're in
the last scene of the game, and everyone dies, and then the
knights of the round table (this was BEFORE ff7) come out,
half people, half various animals and they gave their
spirits to bring everyone back to life, and destroy the main
bad guy. the whole time, this song called around the world
in a day by the tweaks (my band, actually) is playing. it
was very emotional.

I'm playing Super Mario RPG for the first time. I must say
I'm laughing my ass off. This is the funniest RPG ever.

most emotional:

1. FF6: The end, when Shadow and Interceptor decide to stop
running (i remember being ten and muttering "No!")

2. FF9: The end, when you find out Vivi has a little family
^_^

3. CT: Robo beaten on by his "brothers"

Ahhhh, I just bought Final Fantasy 10 the other day, I'm
literally just about to start my save... I held out so long
just because I thought the main character is a major
lame-oid.

Wimp= I cried when Robo got his ass beat, too.

me! :-D

what systems were Chrono Trigger (what was this about?) and
FF6 for?

FF7 was amazing.. graphically FF8 was, though I never got as
into it as I did the seventh

Those were for Super Nintendo... best system ever.

I agree with you totally about the PS1 FFs... 7 was
remarkable in every way, 8 was lackluster. Some major
gameplay issues that ruined it for me, but I played the
thing just to LOOK at it... the graphics were awesome.

For ya'll who love Final Fantasy VI, like myself, and dig
the beautiful game handbook art, look into Yoshitaka Amano,
the conceptual artist for nearly e v e r y Final Fantasy!
The bomb diggity!

9 was pretty good too.. but again, I didnt finish it..
mainly because it, like 8, wasnt 7

offline wimp on 2003-07-28 11:03 [#00796924]
Points: 1389 Status: Lurker

9 was absolutley fantastic! A return to the game series'
fantasy roots. Vivi is the coolest. The game ended up to be
a little vague and limited, but the beginning of the game
was the funnest!

I played like 85% of 8, 70% of 9 and about 180% of 7

speaking of FF7, did anyone ever defeat the 1,000,000 HP
emerald and ruby weapons? (wasnt there a third one?)

yay, another EQ fan

for me, seeing a friend get his bard's epic weapon (awesome
piece that has musical notes flying off it). it was so
goddamn cool even i got excited++ about it.

yes, i'm a geek.

personally, probably was level 39 or so when i discovered
this lute i got in a raid in some cavern, that allowed me to
solo brilliantly with charming. think i made 5 or 6 levels
in a few days, then they nerf'ed the damn instrument.

nerfs in eq SUCK. half the reason i don't play anymore.

i'm a bard, cept, i'm only at level 47 (heh, lucky 47).
haven't touched eq in months.

I must keep this thread alive! Has to be the best topic

something magical about recalling favorite RPG moments!

oh, and i'm considering getting star wars galaxies - anybody
here play it, or have opinions?

i know its overrated, and i've heard "its no better then
everquest", but i quite enjoyed eq. got a bit repetative
solo'ing, but.

its garbish. thats right garbish. its basically eq for star
wars fans. the only cool thing i like about it is that u can
live on yer own in the forset and build up yer level, then u
can randomly appear.
(ps. dont talk if u do that, ppl will think yer a bout,
therefore a legend.)

its good fun, but the same as eq.

$10us a month! EGAD!

actually i lie - best time was when i managed to get the
shadow of luclin expansion pack completely free and before
release date; silly patcher uses an XML file to describe all
the files, so I just wrote a little perl script to wget all
the files over.

for some reason after i did this, the server assumed i had
actually bought & registered the pack, and it worked for
about 8 months until the next expansion pack came out.

was awesome.

but i repeat: i'm a geek.

heh - well, in any case, i want a new rpg that's going to
have involving cool elements in it - not just the same slash
and bash crap all the mmorpg's seem to have. any
suggestions?

then again, i have a job. hmm.

Has anyone played Xenosaga... I'm thinking of buying it. I
saw it for a reasonable price the other day... but I heard
it was one of those games where you WATCH more than you
actually play, that has me wary...

Ever played any of the DnD based PC games? Neverwinter
Nights? Baldur's Gate? Icewind Dale?

Yeah, well, you ever played Planescape: Torment? Truly the
most mind expanding mind boggling fun up the ass game ever.

As I told electro, if Plots are one of your biggest
enjoyments in a videogame, than by all means pick up XS.
It has one of the best stories ever for a videogame, it puts
FF to shame basically.

The graphics are very smooth and detailes (better quality
then FFX.)

And while you do watch a good chunk of XS, there's still
plenty of gameplay, but I personally just wanted to keep
watching ass all the cutscenes are top notch.

I really don't know what else to say...it's only Part 1 of
6, so it's only going to get better (the new screens of
Episode 2 already got a facelift.) For the prive I've seen
it around here, you can't go wrong. Don't listen to those
babies who complain about the cutscenes, most likely the
only reason they are is because the story is to involved and
they don't comprehend.

ass=as* heh.

And if it's any consolation, it IMO edges out Chrono Trigger
and Cross for Plot.
