I was listening to both Double Figure and PBrane today, both are good. It works this way if you ask me: Double Figure is longer and more varied so buy that one. The Warp compilations (10+3 is Good) are good for cross-spectrum listening. My summer album this year will probably be Pause (FourTet) until Beth Orton's album comes out. If you get Black Rebel Motorcycle Club your friends will figure out your cool in a year or two (Canadain culture being slow like it is). The Tragicly Hip have a new album to, and so do Rush, eh?

Ross.. Global Goon is really quite light and subtle melodies, reminds me a little of SAW 85-92. "Stans' slaves" is worth the admission price alone, with a hint of Alberto Balsalm and Heliosphan about it. Some tracks have hi-hats that have a vaguely oriental feel ...VN Is definately a great album for your collection.
Orbital are techno 4 sure, but don't let the 'repetitive beats' tag put U off, most people find them the most accessible techno combo for IDM afficionados, because theres so many layers to their music, they experiment with ambient synth loops, warped voice samples, and all manner of jiggery-pokery... 'Brown' is a classis. Look it up on amazon.com/music. I bet its a 5-star rating. In-sides is excellent too. And Snivilisation.

'Time becomes' isn't a track, its an experiment. I think they sampled it from Planet of the Apes/Star Trek/Star wars or some other film "There is the theory of the moebius..."
I always skip it, but lush 3-1 is awesome , another thing altogether

If you aint into Orbital...you aint. thats the way it is everyones different, thats cool
Like I said, lush 3-1 grows and grows on you with each listen. It expands from bog-standard downbeat techno into an epic spiritual anthem . Listen to it when high, when low, when confused, when together, when driving somewhere, when lying in bed... it's a real leveller. It always brings me back to who I am.. maybe its just me.
In-sides is fantastic (IMO). "The Girl".., uplifting, intoxicating, revellery , "Dwr Budr" (Welsh for Dirty water) meditative, hypnotic, "The Box" chaotic, adrenalising, "somewhere out there", a long journey through the senses..."Adnans".. the list goes on... a great complete album to own.
Its maybe just me. I love Orbital (although their latest stuff is disappointing). Its one of the few "techno" artists I can get fixed with.
Snivilisation is great too.. "Are we here", "forever" , "science friction".... check them out , maybe its not U're kind of thing, but its great music nonetheless .
PS> I'm only saying all this cos' tha stuff U listed sounded like my taste, and I think U would enjoy this stuff too. It'll grow on you, honest :)

A few recommendations
Jega - Geometry (THE most under-rated 'IDM' artist and album. Each track is different and all are good.)
The Cinematic Orchestra - Motion (The best full-length debut since BOC. Excellent down tempo chillage. Smooth as silk buttah)
The Irresistable Force - It's Tomorrow Already (Down-tempo ambient with killer sampling. I've never heard anything else like it)
It looks like you need to check out some Ninja Tune artists. Their roster is nearly WARP's equal.
