this topic has prolly been used a 1,000 times but what the
hell.
it's weird i just rediscovered all of my old electronic
albums that i listened to when i was like 10. i put in fat
boy slim we've come a long way baby and i'm listening to it
with a new kind of thought. back when i use to listen to
this i had really no idea how he made this or what that
sound is and now i can be like, "whoa that's a tr-808 snare
hit" or "i like how panned that beat". it's like i'm looking
at music in a way i never have before. it's weird how idm
makes an impacte on my life.

I was never into electronic before IDM... I never listened
to Moby or Fatboy Slim or the Prodigy, I just dove right in
with Aphex, Autechre and BOC a year and a half ago.

It hasn't really changed the way I listen to music,
really... the Beatles did that, they really showed me what
you can do if you've got huge amounts of talent and
creativity.

But getting into electronic opened up a whole new
underground full of nice stuff to get into beyond rock. But
I prefer my classic rock Beatles/Doors/Floyd/Stones/Who
phase to my electronic phase.

Yeah, but I think MAKING idm had a big influence on that as
well.

I listened to Photek & The Future Sound Of London. Then I
went into Aphex and from there, everything else. Never got
into the more 'dancy' stuff such as Fatboy and Prodigy
though.

As far as electronic music, I started with Aphex and didn't
explore much more until a couple of years later. PReviously
I was into rap, R&B, funk, industrial, and some classic
rock. Discovering electronica changed my life a lot, I feel
like I finally found music that perfectly expresses how I
feel, which is why I'd really like to get better at creating
it. I'd hate to think of how my life would be right now if
I'd never fallen into this music.

idm really makes me a different person from the crowd. i'm
not the normal everyday person who likes punk rock and rap,
i'm a very diverse person who enjoys very diverse music.

really good, I cant stop investigating for new music...

i can't tell what any artist is using for equipment (though
i did like reading about boc and what they use), but it
certainly has changed a few things around. i appreciate
music more. all kinds of music. i don't know how, but
maybe because since most of my friends think electronic just
as weird, and i can see it as much more, i look at things, i
guess you can say, with wider eyes. i love music now, as
opposed to just having something on in the background, i pay
attention.

plus i was playing go plastic in my truck 2 days ago and my
friend thinks if i keep listening to this music i may kill
someone. heh heh ... i call it my serial killer music to
scare him
