oh my god this is dumb. the goverment is trying to remove
the "Under God" part in the pledge of alegance. this is b.s.
this country was built on religion.

First of all, it's not "the government" doing this. Members
of congress, even the President is outraged at this judge's
decision. I doubt it'll hold up.

I have no opinion on the matter.

Um, you are aware that the original pledge did not have the
words under god?

It was "one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice
for all", congress voted to add under god in 1954.

Not like they are taking something out that was in the
original pledge as part of some modern politically correct
movement. They never should have added those words in the
first place.

presense?

and whats with "in god we trust" on our money

thats totaly bullshit too

fucking christians... just trying to spread christianity in
every way possible... even when its clearly against the
constitution

These are the following inanimate objects I recite mantras
to on a regular basis:

rocks

furniture

piecies of cloth attatched to the top of sticks

You should hear my rock mantra... It kicks the pledge of
allegance's ass.

zeus im ashamed of u...a Christian country should not change
for the benefit of any non christians living
within....trying to change how we beleive, they should keep
their religions (or cynisism about religion) to themselves
and let the rest of us worship as a nation, we shuld be
proud of who we are.....ok so im mostly talking about the uk
there but it still applys for the usa, leave the Under God
in!

no way man

america is about equal oppertunnities for all. it was made
to be a haven for whoever wanted to come.

for this reason, we decided to seperate church and state, so
people wouldnt have conflicting views that caused turmoil.

the idea to seperate church and state is a wonderful one...

but because the people in high places at the time, and
today, are mostly christians.

America was not established to be a christian state... it
just turned out that way.

Too all off you:

Sorry that aBrit has to point it out, but the "In God we
trust" and the eye-pyramid on US money are actually jewish,
not Christian.

Bob: I agree, the point of a democracy is that it panders to
the majority of people in it. In the US about 74% of
the pop. claim to be Christians, therefore it should be a
country that uses Christian values etc.

I dont think so...74% is a lot but 26% out of 250 millions
is a lot too... I mean why a jewish or a musulman have to
stand that...if you are a plural country then its better not
to pronounce on one single religion... all the popullation
must be represented, so you ve got to find values that
represent everybody

sorry if this doenst make much sence but-i beleive in God
and i feel everyone should worship Him weather u beleive or
not becuase he made you....

although if the usa is an 'equal oppertunities' nation, then
i guess religion and state should be kept seperate...

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-06-27 10:19 [#00286758]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

ok, well even if it IS jewish.. (although i was totaly
unaware of that... and rather skeptical...) i still dont
need to have religious content... even from judism on my
money.

and yes there is the majority... but it doesnt mean it
should be a part of the government. theres is no reason for
it.
so 70% is christian... who cares? they can pray and practice
it on their own time just like everyone else.

offline Bob Mcbob on 2002-06-27 10:21 [#00286761]

hmm i guess there should be more jewish things in america,
after all there are more jews in the usa than in the rest of
the world put together

well, see... thats just your belief... i think there is no
such thing as god.

exactly why it shouldnt be part of the goverment... because
we both have our beliefs, and beleifs dont change. too much
fighting comes from it...and it goes no where. its better
just to not even go there.

i agree with zues that the christian religion is shoved down
peoples throats a lot and there's to many christian specials
and shit on tv but still i don't see anything wrong with
saying under god. besides i think people who don't believe
in god shouldn't have a voice in this country (no offense
zues).

as far as god goes, visit www.me_own.blogspot.com

as far as taking god out of the country, it is
unconstitional to have religion and government mixed, so it
should be removed.

Some of the founding fathers of the USA (Jefferson,
Franklin, a few more I can't remember) were not Christian,
but Deist. People conveniently forget this sometimes. Deists
aren't atheists, however - they believe in a Creator.

I support removing the words. They shouldn't have been added
in the first place.

"i think people who don't believe
in god shouldn't have a voice in this country"

What a coincidence, I think people like you shouldn't
have a voice, period. (Or any other means of communication
to spread your ignorant ideas)

all you guys prolly think i'm some religion freak now and
i'm gonna say now that i'm not some holy roller and i
realize that what i said in the earlier post is kind of
ignorant and offends a lot of people. so just ignore it
considering i should be a whole lot open minded about
religions and you guys have just as much voice as me if not
more.

Christianity is the biggest crock of shit since John
Edwards.

I was raised as a Catholic in America. And I must say, this
country was NOT built on religion, and it never should be.
Organized religion is the biggest downfall of this planet.

Religion should be personal, make it whatever you want, and
DONT impose it on other people (That INCLUDES your own
children).

"...a Christian country should not change
for the benefit of any non christians living
within....trying to change how we beleive, they should keep

their religions (or cynisism about religion) to themselves
and let the rest of us worship as a nation, we shuld be
proud of who we are.....ok so im mostly talking about the uk

there but it still applys for the usa, leave the Under God
in! "

This is fine for the UK, because I dont really know what
goes on there, so I cant say anything about that. But here
in the USA this is NOT a christian country (no matter how
many christians are living here) and our laws should not
change to accommodate the religious people (although our
laws do). Thats bullshit. Christianity will never rule the
world and it shouldn't.

"besides i think people who don't believe
in god shouldn't have a voice in this country "

What the fuck!? Do you hear what you are saying. Are you
actually listening to the garbage you are spewing out?
Correct me if I'm wrong but you are basically saying: If i'm
not religious, I should have no say in how this country runs
itself.

If this is correct: Go fuck yourself
If i'm wrong: I'm sorry.
