ok, so we got Autechre, Boards of Canada, Plaid, etc as duos.
We got Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher etc as solo artists
would you say on a whole... that the duo artisits, or the solo artists are better... and why?
Do you think better things happen when there is 2 people?

some autechre tracks are actually solo tracks, i think that's the same for plaid too (fairly certain anyway).
dunno if that's true for boc but it wouldn't surrise me. sometimes in a partnership you just don't know what the other guy's on about so you just let him be, and if it sucks you veto it from the album. in radiohead, "everything in its right place" was just made by thom yorke and the producer nigel godrich; the songs "kid a" and "i might be wrong" are mostly thom yorke solo tracks on his laptop with embellishments made by the rest of the band.

since my fav are afx and >?, i'd say i prefer solo...
maybe that's because when you're a solo artist, you can't be like "what do you think of it?", "do you think you can improve it?", but rather rather "do i really like it?", "can i improve it?"... maybe you have more freedom and more responsabilities at the same time, and maybe that makes you focus on the music itself more... i don't know, i don't know how artists work...

with electronic duos, you usually have no idea who contributed what, so it's hard to say. it's not like in a traditional band where you can say person "a" played such and such instruments, wrote the vocals, or whatever.
