i think photek's solaris is the bible of electronic
music.....and all u people saying photek was good before
solaris,i feel sorry for u.......u should really expand your
minds and views a little,so u can comprehend the greatness
of an artist like photek....he is aware that drum'n'bass
died a long time ago,and there is nothing more to say in
that genre,so he,as a progressive artist beyond genres,moved
to the other genres, and he is doing a miraculous job
there,...for example i think he is the best house producer
around although hes house career is only 4 tracks
long....but those 4 tracks blows away complete discographies
of a renown house producers around...

every fuckin track on solaris is a gold mine in its own
genre, and thats something your idols like
autechre, aphex, squarepusher and others will never touch cuz
they are pretty one-dimensional doing the same kind of music
for decades...

sorry guys...PHOTEK IS STILL NUMBER ONE ON THE PLANET!!!

to say 'sorry guys...PHOTEK IS STILL NUMBER ONE ON THE
PLANET!!!' ............ is not one-dimensional of course.

it's YOUR opinion, nothing less, nothing more

well considering how much house sucks, you cant even have a
good house song because the house genre limits you to make
crappy music. same beat over and over for like 4 or 5
minutes doesn't sound like progression from his previous
work. if he was progressing he would make more experimental
music not less experimental. thats my opinion, you have
yours and I have mine.

and so aphex twin has been doing the same thing for decades?
saw2 is the same as drukqs according to you? there complete
opposites. now look at amber and confield. they couldn't
be any more different. i wont even get into any other
artists because its completely pointless.

Expand our minds? The thing is, the house tracks on Solaris
aren't really that good in general, compared to other things
around at the moment.

And if you put Autechre next to something like house and
then say 'expand your minds/horizons', I'd pick Ae,
naturally. House is something that's been around for a long
period of time. It's been done to death and is boring.

you tell us to expand our minds and views but hen say
something pretty stupid like
"he is aware that drum'n'bass
died a long time ago" which is of course the biggest
bullshit story ever. If that is indeed what he thinks, then
i wont even have to bother checking out his music.

Drum & Bass is still alive

true but you have to admit dnb isn't as popular as it was in
'96. who're the big dnb producers right now? i can only
think of aphrodite, but i stopped listening a few years ago.
i'm asking a sincere question, please list some dnb'ers, i
might want to check them out..

i mainly listen to ed rush&optical, goldie, dillinja, ez
rollers, ltj bukem, dreazz & falcon, and basically
everything thats either really chilled out or just speedy
and hardcore drum&bass. As far as i know, all of these
artists still produce records these days, but i dont really
keep up with the latest productions.

I know dNb isn't popular, but i dont think it should be. Its
an underground scene and if u know where to look, you'll
find it.
I still go to dNb parties a lot..

techstep drum n bass (stupid Dieselboy and what he spins) is
so stupid!! There's no quirkyness to it like old drum n

'kick snare kick kick snare' at like 180 bpm. ARRGGGG!!!!

"same beat over and over for like 4 or 5
minutes doesn't sound like progression "

did u actually listen to photek's house tracks ???

anyway saw2 and drukqs ARE the same genre...its
electronica.saw2 is more ambient, and drukqs is more
percussion and drum'n'bass oriented...
in the same vein...amber and confield are the same genre
too......amber-ambient,confield-experimental...but just
electronica

and they will never exit out of their electronica holes....

ur not making any sense

u'd have to be musically retarded not be able to tell the
difference between confield and amber, or confield and
almost any other electronic music for that matter

photeks house tracks are NOT progressive or innovative
musically

if i really think they are, im sure we'd all get a kick out
of u trying to explain how

u dont get it...
i consider confield as one of the best electronic albums in
the history of music...amber also,in its time..
but they are just electronica...

photek has moved beyond one-genre-bonding...
do you think autechre could actually make a pop music with
vocals on it???
i really doubt it...i think they are incapable of doing
that...
they will always be the kings of electronica....and nothing
more.

but photek is MUCH more......

Oh wow, he moved from making very interesting d&b... to very
boring house music. What an artistic progression. I must not
get it though...

I love Photek in his pre-Solaris days. I think he really had
something there. Now, he just doesn't sound so hot. That
whole album just sounds tired and forced.

And Amon is right about Ae. They wouldn't give a fuck about
any pop music. Fuck that shit. Get it straight man. They
LIKE putting new sounds into the world. Photek apparently
doesn't, which is a shame.

PHOTEK STILL PUT OUT GREAT DNB ON HIS "PHOTEK PRODUKTIONS"
LABEL AS "SPECIAL FORCES"!!!!
i have said this like ten times here now......but nobody

The House tracks on Solaris are great imo eventho i normaly
disslike house.
Its the other tracks i find really boring , Big Beats and
shit.
Rupert can do better then that!!!

I think Rupert was almost forced to do what he did on
Solaris...which is probably why it sounds forced. It could
have been from the record company or from peers. I don't
know. Its sad...and I hope he picks things up for his next
album.

And source direct...they used to be cool. But I don't think
we'll ever hear from him again after that slip up between
baker and that other guy. That sucked. I heard SD and
Photek used to be friends too.

Rupert was forced?
Seriously Amon....read some interviews or
something...shit!!
Doing those house tracks together with Robert Owen was a
dream he has had ever since he first got into the scene.
House music was the first music he got into (like most other
DNB producers) and he simply felt like going back to his
roots for a while.

>"hey clic ,do u actually listen to some house music,or u're

Do I actually listen to some house, or am I a 'house hater'?

What does it matter? If I hear something that I don't like,
I don't like it. It's my opinion, get over it 'Digital
Messiah'. Telling ME that I can't tell the difference
between something good and something bad, is an absurd
statement. You just sound like you're pissed off because
hardly anyone agrees with you're "Solaris is the bible of
electronic music" statement. Seems like you would pick
something a little better than Solaris to be the 'bible' of
electronic music.

I do not like house music. I don't think it would matter if
I did listen to it or not, I can still form opinions on
stuff. I dated a girl that listened to a lot of it because
she was a DJ, and I hated so much of it. It's boring and
repetitive. I guess that makes me a 'house hater'. Good. I
don't really care, because I like music that's INTERESTING
to listen to. Sorry I don't find Photek's new 'house cutz'
as genius as you do. He's just breaking old ground.
