I just heard my cds and noticed something quite weird.

Listen to Squarepusher's song Tundra...then listen to
Plaid's song Coat (off p brain)...and notice the chord
stucture is the same...

WEIRD

"same" in that they both seem to develop the same...the
melody.

I like that P-Brane ep a lot... I want to get a full length
album by Plaid now, but there are none here... I hate
ordering in music, it takes so long!!!

Damn, you mean no music stores near you carry IDM?

Thank you Crow's Nest!

much all of what they usually carry I own...

I haven't seen any Plaid here at all, except for the P-Brane
ep which I got the other night...

Damn no Double Figure?

Not For Threes will be the hardest to find album wise. The
Peel Sessions will probaly be the hardest, BUT it's so damn
good.

Time to get my dose of the Peel Sessions, I totally forgot
about it until now.

I saw Not for three's in the store today...perhaps I should

Yeah, I would defintely grab it. It's damn good. There's a
few songs Bjork sung in.

If you have access go d/l 'Spudink', it's probaly my
favorite plaid song, and it's off of NFT.

this is poitless, but shouldnt it be the other way around?

plaid sounding like squarepusher, since coat was made before
tundra?

again, so pointless...

i dowloaded big loada, and only realized the so-called
tequila fish track i downloaded was a fake when i finally
got plaid's not for threes, a few months later.

it wasn't the real tequila fish.
it was undoneson.

i downloaded the real tequila fish now, but every time i
listen to undoneson (which is a great track btw) i think of
squarepusher.

oh oh oh... I couldn't disagree with you more.
PLaid = meh... it just sounds drawn out and rather sappy. ;0
imo of course :)

hmm...the only plaid song that has ever even vaguely
reminded me of squarepusher is 'attack on precinct zero'
...im not sure why...

but wait...amon..wasnt it you who said squarepusher sounded
like boc a while back?
...and then a little while later...werent you the one that
said boc invented a a new style by mixing hip hop and jazz?

hmm

there are some vague similarities.....yes..b/w Plaid's
current beats break heavy outings and early melodic
squarepusher.....approach to melodies and chord
progressions..some of the beats snare rushes etc....firstly
they probably share the same studios etc..but I think it's a
part of the fact that there has been a signature sonic
vocabulary so to speak evolving for the IDM...we can also
then say that they both
sound like AFX...but it would be extremely shortsighted...it
will be like saying Oasis sounds like Beatles...because both
create melodic rock...
