Fear in Music

In my opinion, one of the most primal emotions, fear, is
one of the least probed emotions in music. Most artists seem
to go on love, pain, misery and loss, but few touch on the
complex and intense nature of fear. The only songs i can
think of are gwarek 2 and #11 off ab3, both by aphex twin.

What do you think?

you mean electronic music?
cuz there's a lot of fear in most music. Just not in
electronica

Yeah i don't think i have ever been scared by any track?
Music can be dark or even spooky , but i have never heard a
truly scary piece of music.

I was more talking about music generally, but then again, im
not the most travelled in music, so there probably is a lot
of stuff out there.

Im more thinking of music that induces, rather than comments
on fear.

Thats why being a kid is great. Being an adult, you know
nothing can really hurt you. If a burger comes in, you can
smack him, or sue him, monsters dont exsist blah blah blah.

I think some people do try to induce fear with music.....

One of my tracks, "Dark", is written to sound quite scary.
You can download it at http://www.yorklabs.co.uk/manicminer

I'm not intentionally spamming here, by the way. It
genuinely seems an appropriate reply to the thread.

There are so many songs that portray or give a sense of
fear..... many more than just aphex twin.

'Driver Down' by Trent Reznor is genuinly terrifying..
'Inevitable Black Horn' and 'Each and Every Word Must Die'
by Cyclobe also. Those are the only songs I can think of..
