Has anyone ever used Reaktor?

If so, is it any good? It doesn't seem to be as popular as
Reason and Fruity Loops, but I think it might be just as
good, if not better. Also it's not specifically not
programmed for electronic music-making, so that also would
give the user more creative possibilities.

It is quite expensive though and has heavy system
requirements, and I can't download it from Soulseek either,
but I'm just curious.

I can't figure the fucker out. I don't have the time or the
will to learn, either.

Got it for free off Soulseek, too. Don't pay! Be bad.

I use Soulseek, which is just as good as Kazaa. . . and
actually I think I can get it from Soulseek, but that's
aside from the point.

Is it better than Fruity Loops?

Does it come with a Soundbank like Reason?

I wouldn't really compare reaktor to fruityloops. And its
got a big 'soundbank' of presets with it to keep you happy.
Very powerful

Is it good for making electronic music though? Do you
suggest I start using it entirely, and completely forget
about Fruity/Reason?

you'll probably need a sequencer like logic or something

OK, I think it's time I checked Reaktor out. *starts
downloading it from Soulseek*

I wouldn't bother

only use it if you really wanna put in the effort to learn
synthesis. That won't come with any presets, to put it
simply yuo'll be thrown in the deep end and probably unload
a load of trojans onto your pc

Hmmph. . . well I'll try it anyway.

It's a program to design your own
synthesizers/samplers/sequencers and FX. There are thousands
of presets included but in some newer cracked versions all
the presets and macros are left out to save space.

OK so it's not actually one of those loop-based music making
programs like Acid Pro or Fruityloops?

No, it's more like lego for making your own devices and
afterwards you can sequence your creations with an external
sequencer like fruityloops, Cubase, Logic audio, Sonar,
Orion, Buzz, etc. But if you use the presets you don't have
to build anything so you can go as "deep" as you like(and
the program allows)...

On the NATIVE INSTRUMENTS website www.nativeinstruments.com
it explains its basically a whole studio, its a sampler.
You can design your own synth's with it. It has filters,
compressors, EQ's, effects. The specifications are amazing
32bit audio engine, build your own instrument from scratch
etc. The thing is I think you have to be einstein to use
Reaktor & Reason from what ive heard about reason its a
virtual rack mount with like 20+ units you have to virtually
hook them together with virtual cords? then figure out how
to use them in combination with on another. Are you freakin
kidding me ? who knows how to use these, i dont know?

Computer's freeze and crash, and can easily get totally
screwed up, i dont dare try to make music with them, very
unreliable and scary.

So I guess I had just better stick with good old, reliable
Fruity Loops, huh?

no WAY! reaktor is the bomb if you really like to make your
OWN music! Its not _that_ intense on CPU - I had v2.0
running on a 200Mhz intel, and now I have v3.0 on a PPC 500
without huge limitations to what I'm doing (granular stuff
excluding). I even made a few generative patches, where you
press a button and out comes the finished track, and trust
me I am NOT THAT CLEVER.

it's very good. one of the most powerful software synths
ever made. it's much more than a synth.

reaktor is awesome for creating your own synths. it is a
modular synth, like the oldschool big ass synths with all
the patch leads and shit hangin everywhere, but a software
version.

you just plug osc's into filters and stuff. its really quite
complex, but is real good for learning synthisis on.

if your new to this sort of thing i would recomend dynamo.
never used it myself, but its meant to be a striped down
version of reaktor. check the NI website for more details.

another modular synth i would recomend is absynth. allot
simpler, but able to create very complex sounds.

There's also a modular softsynth called synthedit(PC), it
can export your creations to VSTI so anyone can use it
