well... i decided to go and force myself into autechre, and
i had a nice lump of cash in my pocket book... so i got:

Tri Repetea++
Chiastic Slide
Confield

ambitous to get confield, i know... but hey, im an ambitous
kind of guy.

so far tri repetea++ is rocking.

its all ive listend to so far

but whats this chiastic slide? i havnt heard it discussed in
any of the previous ae threads...

?

Chiastic slide is almost as much of an advanced listen than
Confield...Confield being the most advanced for Ae fans.
Chiastic to me has something wrong with it. Its a very
difficult listen for me partly due to it sounding very
unclear and percise like LP5. Its muffled to me and i don't
know...its hard.

oops...i worded that wrong. i meant to say chiastic slide
isn't like LP5 which IS clear and percise. LP5 is very
crystal and chiastic is muddy and mechanical

Chiastic Slide is great... it's sound is very dense and
there is a lot going on, but it's very good!!

so like... just curious...

and dont say "DONT ASK...BE ORIGINAL"

i dont want to copy them... i just want to know what they
use..

do they use samples and mess with them at all?

it all sounds like FM synthesis stuff.

if so, its very impressive

I got tri rep ++ I would recommend anyone to get this if
they have not got it. the extra price is worth the second
disk if only for Vletrmx21

i got it cheap

only like 16 bucks...

actually they were all cheap

confield was 14, and the other one was 16 as well

thats why i decided to get em... i saw them around for like
20 and up, and i was kind of turned of by the high prices,
but i saw these and said, alright then!

ok,

im half way through the second cd of tri r++

i love it

its not catchy... but its ok..

its very like... meditative... trance like (not the dance
style... i mean in the real sense)

its relaxing...in an odd way....

Ok, so far ive listened to chiastic slide, and tri
repetea++

and although they both rock

CHIASTIC SLIDE IS AMAZING

man... ive never heard anyone talk about... so i hope that
that means i can expect even more from the other releases...
but this one is just so good.

i just layed in bed listening

it takes me on a journy

there is one song that i love... i reminds me of walking
through snow

and the tempo changes in some of the songs... brilliant

im glad i bought these cds!

we have talked a lot about chiastic slides, cos amny of us
think its one of their best releases... me myself thought it
was my favorite but then confield appeared in my life...
confield is a step forward in the road that chiastic slide
begun.

anyway zeus, go to the search issue and write chiastic
slide, you will find lots of threads talking in some way
about this release...which in my opinion is excellent (my
best with lp5 and confield)

i was told to build up to it

but i think i may be ready, cause some one said earlier that
chiastic slide was on the same level of wierdness as
confield

we shall see soon

get into

zeus if you are getting into autechre...go to this link:

I think it was b3n who recomended it to me, (or amonbrune, I
dont remember) here you will find a review of every autechre
release in cronological order, and in depth into every track
of every album...
I learned a lot about autechre with this article

of course amber is awesome...when I talk about favorites
that doesnt mean I dont like the rest....amber is excellent
too, but autechre have developed so much since they started,
that they have always gone to better and better.
I have 14 releases by autechre.
all the albums, and 8 eps, I still dont have anti ep and the
gescom material and some impossible to find eps, but I think
that 14 releases is quite good to have a general view on
them

why?
I like having tri repeate, anvil vapre and garbage all
separated, thats how they originally were...no doubt that
having the three in 2 cds is a good point but man, still cd1
is what here is tri repeate itself, then we have two cds
instead of one (anvil vapre and garbage are cd2) but hey we
have two more art works

yeah...agreed, I prefer to have the seperate releases as
well...it's a good deal moneywise but you do miss out on the
extra Artwork (which as it's AE is always outstanding
stuff...)...

Likewise with the way the US repackaged ON & VENTOLIN...

When I buy a CD, it's not just for the music (altho that
obviously is the most important thing), the packaging does
play an important role; I'm a sucka for a cool piece of
design....it can really set the vibe for a piece of
music...AE in particular always do something interesting
with their artwork/packaging...

very true. that's why downloading mp3s and listening to them
on the computer is not as good as putting a cd in yer
stereo.

often, if the cover of the cd is dark, i'll think of the
music as dark too. (which is not always a good thing, btw)

sigh yes but i cant find the other cds......al i care
about is cost and availability...sure artwork is nice but
its not the main reason i buy music...but i agree that
artwork influences how we listen to the msic contained
within....

well i meant find in shops, i dont order many thing on the
net (except ebay, and thats only to get bargains), i like it
when u see something u like and a few minutes later you
listening to it....the waiting weeks kills me

we kinda listen to music nowadays....used to be that you;d
put an album on and listen to it from start to end...CD's
changed that slightly by making it easy to play things in a
diff order or skip tracks...but MP3s take that a step
further & really throw the idea of a set running order outta
the window....

I think that's the main reason why the running order of
drukqs is so odd and why there are so many different little
tracks...as he's said in interviews, he expects people will
create their own versions of the album with just the tracks
they like & leaving out the ones they don't...

I really hope DVD albums catch on...with 8Gigs to play with,
you could have loads of digital artwork, videos, audio,
already encoded MP3s etc...
