this next extract is from a review in
http://lonelymachines.org/autechre.html

it is a long review of all their main releases, and this is
how he finishes with the review of amber:

Amber could have been a truly great record, and in many
respects it is. It has some essential material. In fact,
"Glitch" may be one of the best tracks they've ever done.
The record as a whole, however, is plagued by a lack of
focus. Many of the tracks seem to go nowhere, and the album
is very poorly sequenced. Nonetheless, it's worth having,
but it's certainly not the best starting point for the
neophyte.

I dont think this way
I love the album, and I consider it a very good point of
departure if someone wants to get into autechre.

I think that review is spot on, Amber has some incredible
tracks that sound very current even today, but I listened to
it again last night (havent had it out inawhile) and I found
myself hitting the trackfwd button halfway through several
songs.

Foil is excellent, Montreal isn't too great, it picks up
with Silverside then it goes down till Further comes comes
on..then things pick up till Nil (which isnt that good imo)
then it gets kinda cool with Teartear

the craziest thing about that review is when he mentions
listening to Amber is like the soundtrack to driving through
the Mohave Desert at night(this is not a direct quote)...one
of my greatest experiences listening to Amber WAS IN FACT
driving through the Mohave Desert at night. well, dusk, but
still...almost night. strange coincidence

Cfern: Silverside is like..my FAV track ... like ever...in
all their cds. I don't know why people don't like it. I
can't stop nodding to it lol.

Nacmat: No prob :) You're welcome for the link

I can not for the life of me stop listening to Glitch, it
has to be my favourite song ever at the moment. It keeps me
awake. Honestly. I love it. Love it.
