albums i bought (or got offered) this month: Björk - Medúlla 6.5/10... a bit deceiving after all, it got better after some listens but then got lower again.... it's nice, has some really good moments (Who Is It? for example, great track) but it does lacks something... a stronger ambiance like Vespertine had maybe? or a stronger track construction... only a few tracks feel really "complete" to me. 6.5 may be a bit harsh, but it's not bad... just below Björk's average. Underworld - Second Toughest In The Infants 9.5/10. or even 10/10. i just love it. even though i already had heard some tracks off 1992-2002... Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream Of Love alone would justify the purchase, but everything is great : ) Juana Molina - Segundo 7.5/10. very nice, but lacks a little something, i don't know what - i haven't listened to it a lot so far.... The White Stripes - White Blood Cells 8 or 8.5/10, i feel i still need some more listens to really make my mind on this one... i just don't like Hotel Yorba nor I Think I Smell A Rat very much, and the construction of the tracks is a bit too similar (especially the breaks like [vocals over thump-thump-thumps alone], you can find them in a lot of songs here and it shows)... but apart from that, it sounds like a very solid album. Ween - Chocolate & Cheese 8.5/10. i just don't like 'Buenas Tardes Amigo'. the rest is varied and fun, not as crazy as i'd thought but very good and often very catchy. Daisy Chainsaw - Eleventeen 9/10. it just rocks. in a weird, harsh, punk and lovely way : ) ...and just one pop song in it that isn't like the rest at all. Noir Désir - Des Visages Des Figures 9.5/10. or even 10/10. i just love all of it. i'm not really into french music usually, but amazingly it's as good as some of the very best english-speaking rock albums i have... in my opinion at least. |

Garbage is a 9/10. It loses the marks for Vletrmx21, which I still DO NOT like. I can't really remember too well... Autechre - Envane - 7/10 Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx - 8/10 Autechre - Peel Sessions 1 - 6.5/10 El-P - Fantastic Damage - 9/10 (I really feel like I can grow older with this album, there is a lot to learn from it, and it's always a challenge) Can't remember the order before those.. |
