i just saw episode 2 today, and i was very impressed.
really good.

anyway, here's my question:

i always thought the order in which the episodes are
supposed to be release is episode 4, 5, 6, go back to 1, 2,
3 and complete everything with 7, 8 and 9.

but someone told me that episodes 7, 8 and 9 were a false
rumor. anybody know if it's true?

As I have said before....the Star Wars story is about a
little kind boy (Anakin), who turns into a monster of a
man(Vader), and then is redeemed by his own son (Luke)in the
final chapter.

Mr.Lucas said that he wrote 9 episodes first of all, but
then he's only gonna make the film about the 1st 6!

There was even another story called 'Splinter of the Minds
Eye' which took place during Episodes 4,5 and 6

the rumor thingy...

proof

i think the "six of nine" and "the traditional nine" sums it
up

I want another producer/director to make Shadows of the
empire... cos it fills in between Empire Strikes Back and
Return Of the Jedi

it would be cool if some other director could make the
movies... but I'm sure Lucas wouldn't allow that, and they'd
probably turn out like crap anyways...

There was NEVER nine!!! You obviously didn't read it
properly!

It says fans expected it - not Lucas!

"When you see it in six parts, you'll understand," Lucas
tells the magazine. "It really ends at part six."

"Lucas does say that there will only be six episodes, not
the traditional nine, which we were raised to believe
existed!" lamented one anguished Star Wars newsgroup
denizen, expressing a betrayal even greater than when Lando
Calrissian sold out Han Solo to the Empire.

"Well, that really makes my f---in' day!" wrote another.

.......see!

I really do hope that Shadows of the Empire is never made
into a film - ever! It was so shit!

I think we may have misread each other. I'm saying that
Lucas originally made it out to hav 9 parts, but he's only
going to do 6 - due to time mainly! That's all i was saying.

are so wrong!

heheheh

eek, didnt mean to offend or insult u Jedi Chris.

But there are 9 episodes in Star Wars, just not all of them
are to be made into films. He only intended to make 4,5&6
1st of all, then he decieded to make 1,2&3.

No sorry you are wrong!

I have read what you claim are Episodes 7, 8 and 9. There
are absolutely loads of 'other' Star Wars stories as well,
they aren't 10, 11, 12 and so on...

.....jeez you weren't even born when Star Wars came out!

lol

Yeah, i understand that Thrawn and so on arent 7,8&9, but
I'm sure that George Lucas had 9 episodes written out.

I wasnt born during the first world war, but i still got an
A for my history coursework on it ;-)

hehe, this is almost a little battle. I dont want it to be
tho :-/

unfortunately jedi chris, you are wrong.
MLS is right, and as thus you are demoted to padowyn.
george originally conceived the story line of star wars
based off of some asian one [did you notice the kensai-ness
of master yoda in this episode? i was surpised he wasn't a
horny little devil, although george showed his first 'bare
gurl ass' in the blade runner-esque bar scene! whistles to
that!], and it was in 9 parts.
he chose to do episode 4 of nine because of steven
spielberg's success with jaws.
george said, 'i'm going to make a movie that is purely
marketable [ever seen space balls?]
at the time everyone thought he had lost his mind, but think
about it....
episode 4 had everything to make it a hit, adn lucas knew
that, thus his decision.
the whole knight rescuing the princess from the villain,
etc.
lucas did star wars to make millions, and prove that the
movie industry should be more than what it was then.
he is responsible for the mecca that it is today.
he has always pushed the envelope in the industry, for that
is what he is:an innovator.
it was his original intention to do the middle of the 9 part
story, for it had the most public appeal > the fairy tale
ending.
he had no idea he was going to be so successful at it.
after 15 years of mind shattering success and outcries for
more, lucas chose to further revolutionalise the industry by
makign the prequel trilogy.
he has stated that he personally will not do episode's 7-9,
nor are there any plans for rights to be licensed to do it.
this is do to the numerous books and comics [including the
heir to the empire trilogy] which lucas has licensed.
he felt that, through tthese stories, the star wars universe
has been accurately depicted after episode 6.[ there are
soooo many! i have 38 novels and stopped collecting years
ago!]
however, the stories before, were so shady and secretive
that lucas would onl;y allow a few select details to be
published and only mentioned in retrospect.
to my knowledge there had been no stories prior to the maki

making of episode I a few years back that took place pre
episode 4.
it would appear that the marketing genius that has just
announced indiana jones 4, had been planning the prequel,
given the opportunity!
lucas knows full bloddy well that after episode 3 he will
have milked the star wars market for all it's worth!
in addition to that, he's getting old! [teh story line of
7-9 is pretty boring in comparrison anyway!]

to answer your questions: splinter of the minds eye took
place after episode 3 [ and is now coupled with the tales of
lando calrission] and shadows of the empire took place after
episode 4 [ dash dies in the book, althought he video game
suggests otherwise], the courtship of leia, after 6 [when i
read this 8 years ago, i was living in switzerland and it
arrived in a package for me with salt and vinegar potatoe
chips. something about the 'whole being on the other side
of the world from your family' coupled with my 'sucker for
cheese' personality made me bawl like i was reading some
trashy romance novel!], adn the heir to the empire 5 years
after 6.

that's a hell of a lot of info! im not a huge star wars
fan, so i didnt get 80% of what you said though ;)

do you think you could point me to a reliable source for
lucas talking about 7-8-9?

old issues of star wars insider, and i mean old!
not sure if there is a star wars insider site?
check here
starwars.com
after episode I, my fanatacism kind of died.
that one was definately made for his kids!
episode II redeemed it a bit though!
george actually said, he doesn't know how much appeal ep3
will have because it is way darker than 2.
he's not sure how it will be taken by audiences.
as long as there is no jar jar, then i'm assuming well!

I do agree with you about ANH, that film was indeed intended
to be an 'all round family film ' because he didn't realise
what a success it would have.

But there is nowhere that says that the 'Heir to the Empire'
are the official Episodes 7, 8 and 9.....

I also disagree with what you said about Episode I . . . I
don't think it was made for his kids at all. I'm probably
one of the only people here who liked the film, and I cannot
seriously see what people don't like about it. (And thats
not a cue to start discussing it....because I can't be
arsed!!! We've been down that road before)
