Anybody like the flaming lips?

Ross on 2001-03-20 02:18 [#00001205]

I read on an imusic.com bulletin board, that if you press
play on the soft bulletin when the conductor drops his baton
that the music will go with the movie up until the track
'waitin for a superman'
does anyone like this band? soft bulletin was a great album,
really experimental, and very cool

"Fantasia" stupid me for not writing it

I like them. The 4 disc set is very very cool. (you play all
4 at once on different systems, and they all fit together)

i always wanted to get zaireeka but havent came across it, i
dont mind ween, some of their stuff is awesome..I just
watched fantasia to soft bulletin (only tracks 1-8) and it
was brilliant

Nice, I should try that sometime.

Wayne (on the official site) says his current favorite band
is aphex twin, hooha:)

Yeah man, Flaming Lips are wicked in their own mentalist
dischordant way. They played at Glastonbury and put on the
most amazing show, something that would take more than a
page to explain.
There was this one time (without trying to
advocate drugs too much) when we had just come back from an
all-night Drum n' Bass rave somewhere near here and we were
all really messed up from taking Ecstacy and Ketamine, and
having exhausted ourselves out in general, we needed some
sleep. So, we scored some hash and got our sleeping bags
ready, popped a few sleeping tablets, put some Flaming Lips
on and started to skin up. MAN, what a beautiful trip that
turned out to be. The hash monged us out while Flaming Lips
took us into this hazey twisted Barbituate zone that played
upon the wits of our exhausted selves. No better way to end
a chemical sension than in deep sleep. Wicked man.

haha, i bet the soft bulletin would be amazing on drugs, I
would love to see the lips in concert, their shows sound
like more of a performance than anything

I have not heard very much of their work, but what i heard i
liked very much. They were funny, the one about vaseline was
truly hilarious!lan on downloading some of their MP3's some
time soon.

That chemically altered, flaming lips fuelled experience
sounds ace!

Thats really funny,,,,cuz i just got into the flaming lips
about a month ago and bought the soft bulletin. It is funny
how fans of aphex and other IDM like the same unrelated
music like Flaming Lips, Weezer, Hum. And it also seems
that fans of IDM know what is sh@t as well, ie Limp Bizkit.

Ross on 2001-03-21 20:58 [#00001303]

i know, it's awesome! i really like the soft bulletin, it's
overblown with it's use of instrumentation, but that's what
makes it interesting

Deceptikon on 2001-03-22 00:58 [#00001309]

I love Weezer too..

The Soft Bulletin is incredible. Driving from Boston to
Montreal last summer in the wee hours of the morning, i had
the album on repeat and sang with it really loud while my
fiancee slept. Yes, Flaming Lips saved my life.
