rob fragilenine from everywhere on 2001-07-15 09:13 [#00015164]

Are there any other hidden things in Aphex tracks? I found
the face in complex equation and the spiral in windowlicker,
is there anything else I should know???

ps. I put the windowlicker cd in my cdrom drive, and ran
audiocatalyst. It showed Nannou to be 6:45 long...??? Does
anyone else get this? I tried playing it but it only went up
to its usual 4:12...

pps. What's with this 'secret track before the beginning of
track 1' stuff? I've heard one of the autechre discs has
this feature. How do you access it?

pps: I know it was on autechre's ep7, but only on a
non-american release. You put in the album and have to
rewind it. I don't have it on my copy.

ep7... is that the one with the totally grey plastic cover

rob: what do you mean the face in complex equation and the
spiral in windowlicker?? let me know please. Im uninformed
on this issue as you can tell.

>:D

H3XAN3 from Melbourne on 2001-07-15 11:27 [#00015178]

REFLEX> there is a section of sound in equation which
generates a image of a face when processed in a spectograph
program (sound to image conversion). haven't tried it mysef
- does anyone know which program/which part of equation does
this thing?

rob>what spiral thing? please tell

If you rewind from the start of the playing Ep7 cd (the
white cover*) it goes back about 3 minutes into a new track
and then starts the secret track from its start by itself, I
believe its about 6 mins long.

Ive got a couple of cds with tracks at the start, its just
sub-indices, telling the cd player what to play and what not
to.

Gl;itch from New Zealand on 2001-07-15 11:50 [#00015181]

*see alot of Autechre cds have white covers :)

but the secret track is only on the u.k warp release not the
SHITY nothing records release.

rob fragilenine from everywhere on 2001-07-15 16:18 [#00015222]

in both songs the hidden pictures are near the end... in
windowlicker the spiral picture is the high pitch right at
the end. in complex equation it's one of the laser sounds
approximately 5:20 into the song. to view these images you
can use the spectrograph in winamp (it's one of the
visualization plugins), there is also one in goldwave, it's
not as good though.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-07-15 18:24 [#00015239]

Fascinating shit!

i never noticed that!

on Come on you slags theres is said "aaaaphex twin" just
before it really kicks in, and just afterwards.

i belive most people know this tho.

also on SAW II disc one track... 6? i think its 6, the voice
is obviosly saying "Twin"

rob fragilenine from everywhere on 2001-07-15 18:28 [#00015240]

i've also noticed a clock ticking sound in blue calx, and
also in stone in focus, i don't know if anyone else has
found these out...

are there any other cds with secret tracks before the 1st
track?

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-07-15 22:55 [#00015276]

Just checked out the spiral in Windowlicker, and the face in
equation. Yep, that's unmistakably a face. Pretty whack
shit!

Loogie on 2001-07-16 00:07 [#00015294]

I have all the Aphex CDs (all UK) but have never tried
rewinding previous to to track 1. Do any have secret tracks?

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-07-16 01:49 [#00015309]

A little messing around with spectrograph stuff:

An Aphex logo:

Use the Winamp plugin

radiowerkshop from canada on 2001-07-16 02:15 [#00015310]

the blind melon album soup was the first one i had heard of
with a secret track before the first track

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-16 02:27 [#00015314]

SNFU has a hidden track. ahaha.. so did Nirvana.

od from perth on 2001-07-16 04:46 [#00015325]

that clock ticking is just a 'drun' int he background
its not a secret
its keeps the time

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-07-16 05:28 [#00015327]

Yes, OD, I was gonna say, it's quite apparent on the CD, but
not so much so on the MP3s I have which I just checked and
they are 112kbps.

I downloaded the SAWII tracks offa Napster to save me from
having to rip em myself, but I guess its time to bust out my
SAWII CDs again and rip em at 160kbps properly.

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-07-16 07:30 [#00015349]

311's Transistor has a hidden track before the 1st song, its
rather cool.

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-16 07:44 [#00015357]

i used to think 311 was somewhat cool many years ago.

>:D

rob fragilenine from everywhere on 2001-07-16 07:45 [#00015358]

wow it does, i never would have found that!!! (the 311
secret track)

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-07-19 20:50 [#00016644]

map[warp/rephlex-aholic] from CH - Mulligan on 2001-08-09 14:42 [#00020712]

on the "i care beccause you do" album.

the track "cow cud is twin".

before the beats begin...on the left channel you will hear
"i care because you do" really short

map[warp/rephlex-aholic] from CH - Mulligan on 2001-08-09 14:44 [#00020714]

i don't mena these beats at the start. when the beats start
y "line in"

a short break. you must listen exactly or edit the break and
make it louder...on the left channel, a female voice

sepix from european realm on 2001-08-09 16:58 [#00020757]
