Ok, I've been listening to Drukqs a lot the last few days,
and my brain is screaming with joy when I listen... so many
sounds... and, contrary to popular belief, I do think you
can dance to a lot of these songs...

i dont understand why not too many aphex fans like drukqs.

its so good. its so mature.

it definatly has a different sound, but its still aphexs
sound.

its like.. more acoustic sounding.

i love it too

I agree... it's a great album... the drill'n bass ones are
CRAZY!!! And the piano pieces are very nice... it's a nice
contrast in style...

it's fun to drive around with the windows down and this
blasting... I was stopped at a light yesterday, and I was at
the loud, make your ears bleed part at the end of
Omgyjya-Switch... I just sat there with the window down, and
the music blasting, and smiled!! :)

made! Ass shakin', brain bakin' madness.

My problem with Drukqs is that I can't just pop the album in
and enjoy it. But I do enjoy listening to my resequenced
"Drukqs mini-album" a lot.

Another thing is that this album is different because they
contain more organic sounds(like the piano pieces, wich they
r all treated differently acoustically)combined with his
unique drill-n-bass music and you definitely got a
masterpiece that DRUKQS is.....=)

yes yes, the beats are fantastic!!!

A question though, is Go Plastic by Squarepusher, or any
Squarepusher for that matter, a lot like Drukqs? I haven't
heard hardly anything by Squarepusher, so I don't know...

Yes The_Funkmaster,all groups/artists play different within
the IDM/electronica genre....And yes also,it's excellent
quality and very creative, even the ambient parts are way
creative....=)

i wouldnt say that they are similiar...

i think squarepusher has a more tightness in his sound. Its
very dense.

Does that make sense to anyone?

Like, its very sticcato.

So good.

I love go plastic.

See Funkmaster, they are like brothers, but even with that in
mind, they play very different, you must start listening to
TomJ stuff but from past to present....Don't even think on
starting with GoPlastic....

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-05 19:41 [#00251299]

Squarepusher is in his own little world of beats FAR beyond
that of Drukqs...especially something like go plastic or
music is rotted one note. Squarepusher is faster and more
complex.

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-05 19:42 [#00251302]

I started with Go Plastic...ain't nothing wrong with that.

squarepusher doesn't really sound like aphex, but it's
definalely the same style of music.
hope that helps;)

I'm sorry Amonbrune but GoPlastic it's not a good start-up
for SP....I will rather recomend starting with Feed me weird
things, then move to Music is rotted one note.....Do you get
my logic???

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2002-06-05 19:46 [#00251312]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

yeah, cause you cant start on such madness... you gotta
build up to it.

I remember when i first heard squarepusher, i didnt like
it... but i was listening to the recent stuff.

i had to go back and listen to the old stuff, and i liked
it, so after awhile i got another one, and so on, and now i
love it all

Untitled is THE best.

amazing

Yes I do. I don't mind starting with GP because I started
Autechre with Confield. I wouldn't recommend doing
EITHER...just I did and wasn't affected.

Drukqs is unique, and amazing. certainly one of my
favourites... and flawless imo

Well,then it's fine with me,still it's not recomended
because from then until now you will see the difference in
style and from the freejazz era combined with electronics
and real bass playing to just computers/sampler/real-time
control music TomJ is doing nowdays.....=)

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-05 19:54 [#00251325]

Thats amazing he did actual bass playing. The drums from
the freejazz era sound real too. Did he play the drums as
well or have someone play them?

Some of the drumming was done by someone else in the studio
and others just sampled from old jazz records and processed
thru a sampler at higher speed sometimes and the,he will
just paly whatever in his bass following the pre-programed
drums, ain't that cool...Is TomJ a genious too or what??? :)

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2002-06-05 20:02 [#00251336]

Amon Tobin isn't as complex or fast as TomJ or RDJ, but he's
got the best beats anyway. He does the Jazz Fusion thing
MUCH better, that's why Tom J stopped the jazz thing, he
KNEW he could never match up to the amazing Amon Tobin. :-)

I don't have that same opinion but it's ok,I don't think
TomJ stopped because of AmonTobin(and he's really good, don't
get me wrong Ophecks),he just did because he just want to
experiment more with electronics...You know that the jazz
fusion that AmonTobin does is different than TomJ'....TomJ
is more like free-style jazz fusion and AmonT is more like
straight/contemporary jazz fusion,still,it's not the
same....=)

Yeah, that's true, I see what you're saying...

Still, Amon Tobin could kick Squarepusher's ass in a
streetfight. Tom is a little drunk dude, I bet he's a pansy.
And that's all that's important, streetfights!

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-05 20:12 [#00251364]

Ophecks: Id probably like Amon Tobin better if he wasn't
with Ninja Tune or didn't have that Ninja Tune "sound". I
personally can't stand that stuff...shame cause I want to
like Amon Tobin. Just that whole NT thing gets in the
way...

offline Amonbrune from Vancouver (Canada) on 2002-06-05 20:15 [#00251369]
Points: 7327 Status: Addict

why? Cause I guess Ninja Tune stuff is too muffled for
me...Its like I got pillows in my room and in my head and
they had pillows in front of the mics in the studios... I
can't hear anything. Its awful for me...

I highly respect your opinion Ophecks, but still think that
TomJ will kick major ass in everything he has done musically
so far....=)
Just listen to his latest Untitled single,is such a
masterpiece......

Amon, Amon doesn't sound muffled! Listen to Amon more,
Amon!

What a weird sentence...

Anyway, he sounds as clear as chrystal to me, I LOVE his
production. I haven't heard much more Ninja Tune, but that
guy is the best. I win you lose!

Vamp- agreed, that Untitled track is awesome, can't wait for
a new album with more than ONE track.

Amon is still better. :-p

Tobin, not Brune.

Brune sucks.

Thanx Ophecks but for me TomJ is way better than AmonT...And
thanx for agreeing with me in reference to the Untitled
single....Cheeers man,you're good,a nice friend and have a
good taste.......SP

like hearing 30 stories, all totally different from each
other.

Nexus6,couldn't agree with you more...It's like listening to
different stories and in every track there is a different
feeling to it,just have to listen to it paying attention to
everything and concentrating on the music........=)
