Star wars

bluesocrates from edinburgh on 2001-07-14 15:29 [#00015092]

Who the fuck likes Star Wars? I hate it - weak story line,
shitty dialogue, stupid little plastic toys, bearded wanker
for a director, green fuckin' cross code man with a black
cape......

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-07-14 19:57 [#00015113]

Me, i like it a lot because there is so much story behind
every minor character, especially in the Cantina.

I was a little kid whan the firsts ones came out. Come on,
for a 4 or 5 year old kid, seeing some guy who wears a black
mask, can strangle people without touching them, and has a
sword made out of light, i wished he was MY dad... The new
one is bullocks though, just for merchandise, I watched half
of it and walked out.

Yeah i used to love Star Wars, I went to go see 2 of them in
the theatre. back in the day that is, I also saw the newer
one in the theatre as well [the big theatres, the imax ones]
and I hated it so much, almost walked out, but said hey we
want to spend out 12 bucks. Anyway, I don't watch any star
wars anymore, but I guess I appreciate the shit it did for
me back in the day. Its alright now, but I don't see howw
you can think it has a weak story line.

Barrett, Syd from Cambridge on 2001-07-14 20:34 [#00015119]

Star Wars is alright. i'll get them all when all 6 movies
are out in a dvd box set.... that'll be a nice set.

D-Hex from KC Missouri on 2001-07-14 21:52 [#00015123]

but i still dont know why there is no star wars
dvd........does that make any sense???? DVD was made for
stuff like star wars.

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-07-14 23:29 [#00015127]

It's great the first coupla times ya watch it, but now I
reckon it's pretty stupid. The new one is impossibly bad.

Scary Bear on 2001-07-15 00:00 [#00015128]

For me the old ones are classics. No question. That's just
me tho.

Bluesocrates: You must unlearn what you have learned

Anyone who gives a fuck about this subject might want to go
to www.newgrounds.com and check out The Star Wars College
Years

Scary Bear on 2001-07-15 00:02 [#00015129]

But the new one is SHITE and whoever decided to go through
with making that should be hung drawn and quartered.

Highly UNreckomended to anyone who enjoyed the classics and
have had the privalege of not seeing it yet.

yoda is god, man. i love yoda.

Clobe Smith from over here on 2001-07-15 08:29 [#00015158]

i could never get into star wars. all it ever amounted to
me was "good campy fun." here's my secret to enjoying
episode one: go in with incredibly low expectations. you
will be pleasantly surprised. except for that damn jar jar.
atleast in a.i., teddy was cool.

(and why watch star wars, when you can watch 2001?)

|REFLEX| from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-07-15 08:37 [#00015160]

Ah 2001 is far better. yes :]

hedtwin from manchester on 2001-07-15 13:19 [#00015202]

I love star wars. However i do agree with the sentiment that
teh new one is utter shite. It was george lucas showing off
about all the cool things he can do with his computers.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-07-15 13:24 [#00015203]

Scary Bear on 2001-07-15 15:32 [#00015216]

Yes the bar music is not bad. Please tell me you are not
serious about Jar Jar tho.

Has anyone been to newgrounds.com yet? Get your asses over
there dammit this is an essential section we must cover
whist on the subject of Star Wars.

oswellm from Oh uh umm it\\\'s near Newcastle umm oh yeah I remember now. on 2001-07-15 16:58 [#00015227]

2001 was much, much better in my opinion. Maybe a bit
overlong but brilliant nonetheless. I think.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-07-15 18:04 [#00015233]

Haha. no. i just love saying it to fuck with peoples minds.
Try saying it if in a chatroom, and see the ruckuss go off!

BLUE ELEFANT!? he is seriusly cool.

walt from europe on 2001-07-16 18:42 [#00015571]

2001 is the greatest SF film to date. I like the Star Wars
movies (well, I love Episode V: Empire and the emperor
scenes in Episode VI, too), but I love 2001. I have not seen
AI yet, but I guess it can't be like Kubrick, I guess it's
more like a reconstruction of a Kubrick film... but I
definetly have to see it.

I wonder if Kubrick would have used Aphex Twin tracks...
because Chris Cunningham worked with him, and Kubrick
certainly knew the Come to Daddy video (it's a fact that he
knew the bjoerk video by cunningham). It would have been so
crazy if he would have used isopropanol or tracks from 'come
to daddy' or nannou in the movie. i mean, this would have
been perfectly suited to the atmosphere of the story.

and there's also this chris cunningham project of doing
william gibson's 'neuromancer'... and the soundtrack will be
done by afx (hopefully these are not just rumours).
