Ok, CC def. kicks arse when it comes to music video's. But maybe its just me...they look cool, but do they have a point or flow to them? I mean whats the deal with Come To daddy, sure its got lil RDJ's running around cauzin trouble...but whats up with the end? Why are they runnin around? Come on my selector, what the hell is going on there?? maybe i'm jsut a retard, but i think some of his stuff could be a lil better thought out...kinda like my posts |

They don't have as much structure as I would like, but some "IDM" videos have none at all, i.e. 'On' so I enjoy them. There may be a little repitition, and no beginning/middle/end formula, but who the fuck cares? Chris is god. |

check out the director file on Chris Cunningham... I believe theres some background info there... but CTD & COMS seem fairly straight forward to me...CTD doesn't have that much narrative to it really, apart from the birth of "The Daddy"...the thing in TV screen calling the kids... COMS...is set in a home for gifted children, I think...psychic perhaps...and the little girl wants to escape...but in order to do so she has to sneak past the guards, who run after her...she catches one and swaps it's brain with her dog...and escapes (?)... so yeah...not really a huge amount narrative-wise going on but they are 5 minute music vids, and are really created as vehicles for his feelings about the music...the music vid isn't the best form for story telling really. If you put too much in it overwhelms the sound.... You might find his stuff like FLEX is a lot more thought-provoking...more video art than music video... |

tits...MonkeyDrummer I think was his last bit of video art...but that was kinda short...2 minutes or so... and then FLEX before that.. With maybe that car advert in between... I'm still waiting for Spectral Musicians which was supposed to be out on WARP FILMS by now.... check here for more info on CC .. .... |

fuck yeah...he doesn't seem to be doing much in that area at the mo....apart from the drukqs vid mentioned in the Anton Corbin article and whether that will ever come out seems kinda up in the air.... Perhaps now he's got a gallery D'Offray, he's concentrating on his move into the Art World...plus the neuromancer saga seems to still be going on in some slight form.... I'd much rather he concentrated on his art stuff rather than any more music vids or adverts really...far freer rein to go where he likes with those... |
