they said in the warprecords.co question session (i think)
they strive to make electronic hip hop... doesn't sound like
it to me most of the time, but ah well...

Nope, they're not.

How can Rae or Pen Expers be called hip hop? A few of the
tracks have hip-hop like beats, but how is that even
defined? I don't like genreizing.

i like their funkier hip hop stuff. that's y i decided to
bring this up. i guess it's healthy for them to diversify
their style tho.

lentic catachresis is another to add to ghe above list;
hip-hop woodblocks and high hats

there are quite a few of those bootleg ae tracks, i heard
flutter with the beastie boys over it!
i have only heard a live version of erik b and rakim i think
it's "microphone check"?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-06-02 00:33 [#00245951]

nah the remix was microphone fiend, i have the coachella
live mp3 of it

anyway, they need to collaborate with some emcees for real.
my suggestions:

gift of gab
pharoahe monch
el-p
andre 3000
mf doom

on some mix of various artists they produced a trac called
"konlied"

btw konlied is a great hip hop/d&b-style trac. particularly
good for cloudy/rainy days ImO

never heard anything about ae and ultramagnetic, if there
was anything then it'd be them mixing one of their tracks at
an autechre concert, that's all
