Can anyone recommend a good sequencer for me to buy? Because ever since my hard drive fucked up (see 'Evil Hard Drive' thread), I can't trust my PC to store my music. I've been thinking of buying an MC-307 or an SP-808. Are these any good? I've heard the demo songs from them and the samples are pretty clear and IDM-ish.

yeah Rob im thinking of getting a hardware based sequencer, I just cant be assed learning how to use midi with software, and computers really tend to piss me off with their constant crashing and faggy fuck arounds, I wouldnt mind something like Autechre used to use, some really old thing I could pick up cheaply from someone, but well see I guess.
maybe itd be cheaper for me to just buy a sampler and get rid of my nasty synth/drum machine conflicts

autechre used to use roland mc-202 drum machines but these were made in the eighties and are like gold dust now. You`re better off getting a 303 than a 307 as they are cheaper. If you can try get your mits on a pirate copy of cubase vst

DONT BUY THE 307 ITS JUST A PIECE OF SHOWROOM GIMMEKERY, STICK TO THE 303 ITS A LOT CHUNKIER AND HAS ALMOST THE SAME SOUNDS.
THE 505 LOOKS GOOD TOO, BUT IT USES THOSE EXPENSIVE GAYASS MEMORY CARDS. 3O3 AND A COMPUTER! BUT REMEMBER THE SEQUENCER INSIDE THE 303 IS KNOWHERE AS POWERFULL AS THE COMPUTER (NONE OF THOSE WICKED APHEX SNAREROLLS)

i have an mc 303, but i prefer using one of the two mmt-8's i have because it is a stand alone sequencer. i am planning on selling one too, but i live in america, so international buyers would be a complicated affair with money exchange and the what not.
