 sounds...explore explore!!! :)

 | I don't think anything could be worse than John Cage's 4'33". He did NOTHING so when a quiet peice that comes out
containing SOME sounds...be nice to it.

 | Begin anywhere man. Ive noticed a ton of stuff at night time when I let my dog out to the bathroom. I'll stand at
the door and just listen and the world is indeed full of
songs. You just need to listen. Say drops of water coming
out of the water spout at 4/4 while a car goes by and
backfires. That never happened but just as an example. Fun
 stuff if you listen.

 | Lisence: check this page out from a site on Steve Roden who is apparenly a genius at it. Hopefully this will give you
some inspiration! One of the things he did was put 20 or so
bottles in a tree in various places with speakers in them.
He had cut out the bottom of the glass bottles of course but
that acted like a chamber for the sounds. Imagine what that
would be like. Lots of his stuff is installation work.
Putting stuff up all over the place to capture the most
 offbeat, often over heard sounds.

 > if you have very good headphones though, i think it is
better as it also reduces the noise from the outside world
and takes you deeper into the music imo... but that's a
 question of taste maybe! =)

(i'm trying listening to the only track of lowercase music i
have yet in several ways, tried it once on headphones on
full volume, once on headphones with normal volume, and now
 on speakers... i prefer headphones!
i must say i have koss headphones and imac speakers too, so
 my headphones are better quality)

 | This is more arcane theory than music...but in a sense it is also the PERFECT ambient music. I mean...how much more
ambient than an amplified anthill does it get ?

 | Yeah, this has been an interest of electroacoustic musicians for a long time: building from one small sound, magnifying
it and chopping it up, hear it in different forms.

 Thanks for the link.

 | I listened to the uppermost 2 mp3's:
1st: minimal and subtle. mmm... if you want the piss taken
out of subtle music, try crunch1.

2nd: this is pretty dumb because it merely transfers normal
sounds from the outside world into the confined world of
headphones. You're better off listening to actual sounds in
the real world and interpreting them as music, so normal
people can think you're a bit odd as they pass by and see
 you daydreaming.
