5 favourite films

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 17:20 [#00046716]

not really my top five (thats impossible!!) just 5 films i
can think of that are outstanding.

2001 A Space Odyssey

Princess Mononoke

Eraserhead (one fucked up film!!!!)

The Fellowship of the Ring (i'm hoping!!)

Dancer in the Dark

btw vampire films are great but Razor Blade Smile is shite!!
I mean, she shoots someone 2 foot away and hits the ground!!

Maximus Volumus from UK on 2001-10-29 17:33 [#00046720]

in no order
Blade Runner
The 'burbs
Evil Dead 2
The Breakfast Club
Gross Pointe Blank

Why do ppl have to fight over opinion?

Maximus Volumus from UK on 2001-10-29 17:34 [#00046723]

Oh yea and Quest for the Holy Grail

Super Magnetic Neo from Australia on 2001-10-29 17:44 [#00046728]

Fight Club
American Beauty
Life is a Construction Site
Police Story 2
187

First five that came to mind, it would be near impossible
for me (and I think for a lot of people) to come up with a
never changing list of 5 films. Theres just so much great
stuff out there.

zetre on 2001-10-29 20:38 [#00046759]

Walter: You´ve got really good taste, mate. Solondz and
Korine are brilliant directors (I haven´t seen Julien
Donkeyboy or Welcome to the dollhouse though) but my
favourite right now is definitely P.T Anderson. Magnolia is
about the strongest piece of art I´ve ever seen. All three
of them shit on Aronofsky that "everyone" is going on
about..

Loogie from UK on 2001-10-29 21:29 [#00046772]

no particular order:

Heat
Blade Runner
Usual Supects
Alien
Enemy at the Gates

I've heard good things about and want to see:
pi
das boot
requiem for a dream
run lola run
the insider

any other suggestions?

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 21:33 [#00046774]

reccomendations, well you may not have seen these...

Eraserhead and Lost Highway by David Lynch

Ring

Audition

Nightmare Before Christmass by Tim Burton, sigh... just
watch all his films : )

and many others but I dont have time sorry!

Condoleezza Rice on 2001-10-29 21:34 [#00046776]

Mat – can you explain Lost Highway to me?
I mean, what the fuck?

Xanatos from NYC on 2001-10-29 21:38 [#00046781]

Mat: Good call on Tim Burton, you have to give a little
credit for all his movies to Danny Elfman though.

go see run lola run

what's eraserhead about? (Don't give anything away)

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 21:43 [#00046784]

Condoleezza Rice: i haven't seen it for a while so i cant
remember it that well, just remember it being really good
and it had me thinking about it for days afterwards. I might
rent it again sometime soon... i'm waiting for it to come
out on DVD so i can buy it.

Loogie from UK on 2001-10-29 21:46 [#00046786]

Eraserhead is a fucking dreadful, warped film, but to it's
credit, it's the perfect tranformation of a WEIRD nightmare
to film. Watch it only out of curiosity.

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 21:49 [#00046787]

Eraserhead is the weirdest films i've ever seen. Its a
horror film, but its not scary as such... it made me feel
really weird afterwards, images stayed with me for a while,
really disturbing.

You may not like it though, its quite slow placed and unlike
anything you've ever seen before... give it a chance though,
i dont think you'll regret it.

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 21:50 [#00046790]

that should be "one of the weirdest films i've...."

sorry, i really should read my posts first : )

Mat from Birmingham, UK on 2001-10-29 22:01 [#00046800]

Don Corleone on 2001-10-29 22:22 [#00046816]

Monsters Inc
Ice Age

damion on 2001-10-29 22:35 [#00046821]

magnolia is a piece of shit!
compared to shortcuts

Loogie on 2001-10-29 23:17 [#00046829]

Mat: no, it's been quite a while... my vivid memories are of
the ...er... thing crying. And then he cuts the bandages
off...

Shit when I have kids and they cry I really hope that scene
doesn't spring to mind!

Sampo from Your Ass Hole on 2001-10-30 00:12 [#00046850]

Bad Taste is by far one of my favorites!
Lockstock and two smoking barrels along with Evil Fuck Dead.
I've also always enjoyed In the Army now and Bo-Dome.

Quadrapelegicrobotikev from Ardmore on 2001-10-30 00:15 [#00046852]

1) REQUIEM FOR A DREAM
2) PATHS OF GLORY
3) BAD TASTE
4) MAN BITES DOG
