cylobian sunset is a good album of his to get first. i wish i could find loops and breaks. lobster tracks is typical computer made techno. the other stuff is too short too feel like you're being ripped off for what you have to pay. check out his other stuff under the name kinesthesia too.

I reckon about 90% of what Rephlex has put out has been pretty poor. They've got a bit better recently with Ovuca and some DMX Krew stuff but most of it's a bucket of gymsweat.

Well.... Oh lord I can see me getting in trouble here... All that Bogdan stuff, I hated that, all that Railway Raver stuff, boring, all that Chaos AD shite, piss-poor, even AFXs remix of Baby Ford, dull acid flam, Kosmic Kommando, teedium. . . Please begin throwing stones now.

funny you dont't like it coz it's aphex's label and that's the music he recommends
stick with it... tunes that don't make sense immediately... the most interesting tunes
: )

I did stick with it, for ages . . . I bought loads of Rephlex tunes from Bradley Strider up to the 1st Leila album, and then realised I didn't like most of them. . . Some of its cool, but some of it just sounds like wannabe AFXs with no style of their own.

I once wrote a really stupid e-mail to cylob about what kind of equipment he uses (even tho he hates people who does that he writes on his wep-page i later found out!) and he was really nice and answered completely and added some homemade ASCI art!
that was great!
i have been a devotee to cylob since, for showing such kindness. it does pay off you know. BOGDAN RACZYNSKI IS GOD!!!!! by the way. And so is DMX KREW...
(im polytheistic you see)

I remember this era, and I recall that the version of Cut The Midrange, Drop The Bass that was posted to Rephlex's site, sounded a bit better than the release cut. Old school mp3 encoding being responsible for the madness, natch.
