I was for a while cause I heard they put hormones in cows to
make them grow bigger and faster...so then came up with the
conclusion that thats why so many young girls are big
breasted and young boys are big everything....but that all
went away cause I got sick of eating shrimp, fish, and
chicken...I needed a burger...

=)

i just think it would be boring to eat tofu and soy products
all the time

offline Powli from Lawrence, KS on 2002-05-24 03:37 [#00232396]
Points: 797 Status: Regular

#1 you are not a vegetarian if you eat shrimp, fish, or
chicken.

and #2 Soy and tofu products can be made to have so many
different tastes you can easily tell the difference between
the taste of each brand and soy/tofu product.

But...of course im not trying to persuade any of you to
become vegetarians...IMO I just think it is a better way of
living.

well, then again, tofu is nice because it's useful for
absorbing different flavors when u cook

I was a vegetarian for about 5 years while in university. I
did it for health reasons and because I was brainwashed by
neohippies.

I stopped because I didn't really feel healthier one way or
the other.

The conversation has changed, but I'm a vegetarian. I
started last summer partially because of animal rights stuff
and partially because I thought it might help me lose weight
without exercising :) But it didn't.

I didnt eat meat for 2 years because i found out what they
feed cows. They feed cows chicken manure, which costs from
$15 to $45 a ton in comparison with up to $125 a ton for
alfalfa. Chicken manure often contains campylobacter and
salmonella bacteria, which can cause disease in humans, as
well as intestinal parisites, veterinary drug residues and
toxic heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, and
mercury. These bacteria and toxins are passed on to the
cattle and can be cycled to humans who eat beef. Some
farmers say they feed chicken manure to cattle straight from
the broiler house which virtually ensures problems. In
addition 40 billion pounds a year of slaughter house waste
like blood, viscera, as well as the remains of millions of
euthanized cats and dogs passed along by veterinarians and
animal shelters, are rendered annually into live stock feed.
Dehydrated food garbage, fats emptied from restaurant
fryers and grease traps, cement-kiln dust, even news print
and card board that are derived from plant cellulose. New
feed additives are being introduced so fast, says Daniel
McChesney, head of animal feed saftey for the U.S. food and
drug administration, that the government cannot keep pace
with new regulations to cover them.

I eat meat here(in the US) because it tastes good and out of
convienence, ive never gotten sick, yet. I didnt eat any
meat or fish for 2 years because of health reasons, and
because the way they choose to mass produce cows to eat is
not good for the environment.

If i went to the UK or lived there im not sure i would eat
the beef there. Heard bad things. Do you people in the uk
eat beef there?

Ophecks: do my "No Photo Available" pic bothers you as well?
;)
anyway — the worse are missing red X's... (:

i decided to be vegetarian when i was a kid, when i was
something like 5, 6 or 7, i had a fluffed pig — i thought
it was so cute, and it was so cruel to kill animals, that i
said to my parents "i won't eat meat nor fish anymore until
i'm 9"... since then i'm vegetarian (well, almost — there
is one exception: shrimp rice).

I'm a vegetarian because there is no respect for animals
which I think is wrong. I don't see animals as meatfactories
just like I don't see art as just another consumerproduct

I don't eat beef, pork or any kind of birds. I do eat fish
and all types of seafood. From what I remember, the food
groups(US) are categorized like this: Meat, Fish,
Poultry(forgot the others). So, my point is if you go by
that, you could still eat chicken, fish and seafood without
eating meat. That's fucking silly isn't it? Is this the
international standard for food categories?
