Are there any programs similar in nature to metasynth
available for PC? If so, where can i get them?I know PCs are
crap for music but i can't afford a Mac. Thanks

It's a synth program for Macs but it uses images to make
sounds and is a lot more experimental in its interface. I
have a program called Colagula (or something) which does
something similar but it is not possible to sequence within
the program

mail it :(

I have the coagula, and it works. I was just wondering if
htere was any software that could combine the whole
Image-to-sound idea with a sequencer. thanks any way jingle

there's that Beepmap thing in Fruityloops, although it is
not very good.

Maybe u cud get it to work better for u

beepmap? i have fruityloops and use it rarely. I never
noticed that feature on it tho, must check it out. thanks

The reason i'm looking for this software is that i find a
lot of the programs available very uninspiring and have
trouble getting the sounds from my head thru my hands into
the computer. i've had sounds kind similar to those in
Confield in my head for years but haven't found a program
that can create them in a way i'm happy with.

I've tried samplers, reason, granulab (If only they could
build a sequencer into it!!!!) and countless others but with
no luck

if you use a program like corel draw then you can "snap"
lines to coordinates and use rhem to give pretty accurate
scales etc (may require some maths tho) or simply draw a 12
pixel high 16 pixels across bmp with each pixel being the
equivalent to one semitone/ 16th of a bar thingy. then coag
can render them and you can do an import

seriously, to get the sounds in your head out simply use
your mouth to do them then process them so that it doesn't
sound like a bloke doing beeps squeeks and wooshes: it
actually works very well. also use the cv gates in reason to
do confield type stuff as if you rig it well enough it will
start churning out mental shakes and screeches and beeps

Sounds cool! I'll give that a try,thanks.

any other board i've posted a similar question on only gets
replys from wankers saying "PCs are shite, Buy a Mac". I
know PCs are shite but i'm a poor student. I live on noodles
for fuck sake! :)

anyway, thanks guys

things like coagula are guess work really arent they? i
mean, you can get the timing right by using pixels spaces
and stuff, but are you really gonna know what it sounds like
untill you listen to it?

sounds to me like you need a good softsynth. really, i would
advise Absynth. its the best ive ever used. if you know
anything about synthisis its fairly easy to make whatever
sound you want. and also with the extensive envelopes, you
can make all sorts of loops and stuff.

its damn cool. ive only had it 3 weeks, but it seems to be
taking over from my whole kit!
