i think the more interesting question here is WHY do people fall for it, everytime?? he baits and people stand in line like lemmings and take ze bait. i find the questions he poses interesting, but i don't feel the need to argue. if he starts something, i can just move to a different thread than continue something that i think will end badly or in an arguement. |

I always think arguments are quite fun...discussions are cool when people have got opposing ideas and don't mind defending their positions with some form of passion... But that all gets kinda fucked up when you attack people personally without wit or humour or just fall back into offensive mode...in the end, no-one feels good about posting and the atmosphere gets ruined... I dunno really...I've got opposing views about trolls...they can be funny sometimes but in the end, I've seen a number of really good boards get ruined atmospherewise by trolls and the like...it's happened here before but thankfully we're a pretty tight cru so bounce back from these attacks quite well... |

The only part I like is the ludicrous troll behavior, other than the occasional helpful mentioned name of some musical related something-er-ather or something. but a lot of the creativity was taken away by logging in and always having the same login name. |

i agree discussing opposite viewpoints can sometimes be interesting, but there is a fine line that seems to get crossed on the internet. and things usually dissolve into name calling and or insulting the persons intelligence. i don't mind discussing....it's arguing i have a problem with. cos it's not valuable IMO. |

Text is a funny little medium to work with...compared with F2F talking it's really limited and has a tendancy to have most of the inflection and subtle meaning taken out of it.... I agree on the fine line on the internet...I think it'd the limitations of text that kinda add to the confusion...It's a pain having to use emoticons sometimes, a bit like raising your hand before telling a joke and saying "THIS IS A JOKE! THIS IS A JOKE!" but without em it's easy to misread people... |
