"Aphex Twin Makes Wired, CNN
Posted Friday, May 10, 2002 by joyrex
I have gotten various emails about the 'hidden face' in
Windowlicker appearing in Wired online and also on CNN.
We've known about this for some time, and the major news
agencies are just now getting a whiff of it - they should
have checked joyrex.com! ;O] Wait until they find out
there's a hidden flower image in Kesson Daslef!"

flower?
beingsarcastic?

Why doesn't someone take all the songs mentioned here, and
save the pix? That way I could see them! LOL

The flower is kesson daslef. That's done by a pitch
analyzation of each tone. If you place all of the various
pictures together into the closest square you get a
grayscale flower.

I thought the flower one was a little dubious...

The guy basically had to write a bit of software to do the
analysis (i.e. it's not like Windowlicker where you can view
it with a WinAmp plugin..)...I doubt rdj put that "image" in
there deliberatly (but I must admit it does tell us
something about that particular track...)

Oh yeah...the only reason WIRED/CNN etc have picked up on
this is that it's a "in the wild" version of
stenography....something that was mentioned during 911 as a
possible way for terrorists to communicate...

Hence the new found post-911 media interest...

you´re right jand, i passed Kesson Daslef several times
through a spectogram, with different settings and all, and
didn´t see a flower. Besides, if you pass richard´s face
through the same program with a logarithmic
function....well, that´s a different story.

i´m going to scann drukqs completely now, see if i can find
something.

check the guys webpage (think it's linked either at Joyrex,
Wired or here) to see what he had to do to get the
"flower"...

I kinda guess what he's done does tell us something about
the track but I really don't feel it's an image that rdj
deliberatly put into the track.... but check the page out
for full details; it's interesting he gets the result he
does; it kinda suggest that there might have been some sort
of algrohymic process to the track....
