Warp sent me a free copy of "total devestation" as an apology for forgetting to include a CD in a load I ordered.
I don't know why, but his stuff sounds "old" to me as though it was made 10-15 years ago. Not like the cutting edge stuff warp artists (generalisation) usually do.

yeah, yeah. I only like those geeky artists who sound as if their songs were made with loads of expensive hardware, cutting edge, state of the art software and in 6 months made up of 15 hours working days...

Jimi played a gig here some 2 months ago and it was the worst kind of a rip-off, him alone sitting in front of a synth dressed like elton John on a bad day and singing his arse off... In a conversation with my friend later he said he had to do this scaled-down tour to get the money because warp dropped him...

I don't like Jimi Tenor.
Warp dropped him for good reasons IMO.
But he is the only person out there I have heard of who could make a synth out of an dead fan, washing machine and a milk carton.

He was saying he hates England, and that his music is far more innovative than anyone else's, and that many people tell him they like to make love to his music.
IMO the guys a twat and I can't think of any any music more UNSEXY than his.
What reasons did WARP give for dropping him?

Uhh, dunno... I always wondered what reasons they had for signing him. But seriously, i don't have anything against JT or plone or broadcast, I just don't find their music appealing but that's my problem and noone is forcing me to listen to it. If warp decide they should be signed, that's fine with me... A lot of my friends love Jimi Tenor, and that's OK with me...

Yeah, muddlin gear is kind of unspoken, it's as good as anything those guys from bay area (matmos, Blectums, Lesser, Kid...) did, but warp is kind of undermarketing it IMO.

yeah ..
i don't know .. the thing that grabbed me immediately with busca was its denseness and broken up beats .. hard to describe, altho its definetly evident in rescate :) - i think i will eventually get around to some of his older stuff.

I read an interview with Tenor shortly after he was dropped and he said warp dropped him because he couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted to be more mainstream or more undergorund...he said he didn't want to be made to choose and so I think he was quite happy to leave. also, it was deemed by warp his live shows were far too expensive in relation to his popularity and importance on the label in relation to his record sales
He's got a track I really like called 'spell', the sitars in it are great.

"I don't know why, but his stuff sounds "old" to me as though
it was made 10-15 years ago. Not like the cutting edge stuff
warp artists (generalisation) usually do. " ...that's obviously the point of his music. bands don't write music to try and 'fit in' with the general pre-conceived sound of their record label. god what a boring world it would be.
