For those who've seen Episode II, I was wondering if you
could give me your thoughts on it. I'm going to see it
tonight and am pretty excited; I have also done my best to
avoid any spoilers related to the movie, so if you could try
and keep them to a minimum I'd really appreciate it. Thnks

But besides that.. Official reviews in general rated it as
really good or really Average. I found it somewhere in the
middle but leaning definitely towards the good. Even if
there are some dry bits that were compulsory, they didn't
obviously have to feel this way but they did of whatever
reason, there were many redeeming factors yeah.. so..see it.
You'll regret not seeing it on a big screen.

well, i have to say i wasn't expecting much, although i've
been frequenting the star wars geek sites like theforce.net
for a few months and i basically knew everything that was
going to happen in the movie... and it STILL managed to be
excellent.
don't listen to all the complaints about the dialogue... ALL
the original star wars movies had the same grandiose speech
styles... it's part of the flash gordon thing that's been
there since the start.

my personal favourite elements of the movie that are very
underrated in other peoples' reviews:
1. the romance - it wasn't nearly as phoney as certain
people have been trying to make out.
2. coruscant - i could watch that over and over again. i was
expecting some sort of dull blade-runner rip-off, but it was
much nicer and more interesting to watch than i expected.
3. the pace - certain scenes are paced slowly, not too busy
or fast, which is great because i felt that too many bits of
the phantom menace were rushed/muddled/confusing. this time
they've let things linger a bit longer, thus recapturing
some of the grace of 'a new hope' and 'empire strikes back'.

i could go on for a while listing why it's better than The
Phantom Menace, but i'll finish by saying this:
it's definitely a Star Wars movie in the classic sense. and
it strangely makes the Phantom menace into a better film,
retrospectively...

I just saw it last night. I thought that Lucas has
definately mastered the art of the sprawling and detailed
shots. The last 45 minutes were incredible, and I will buy
the movie solely for the fact that Yoda is the baddest
motherfucker I've ever seen wield a lightsaber

I can't see CGI getting much more lush than this; it's
reached that seamless stage where you don't even consider it
anymore...

& so smooth watching the overall story forming...things like
Amadea looking so much like Leia, the ships at the end
looking so much like the ones in the original trilogy, Lukes
"Uncle" on Tattoine etc....

I didn't even spend half my time waiting for it to finish so
I could grab a smoke; the reason I seldom go to the Cinema
anymore...

got back from the cinema about 10mins ago and I just know my
dreams are gonna be in LucasOVision tonight....
