yeah I really love Life in the So-Called Space Age. that album kinda drove my interest in making electronic music, too...cos their music is as simple as it is interesting and great-sounding and it didn't intimidate me to think about how I could create those sounds.

They have some great albums. I got into them by luck in 1996 while visiting my cousin in Arizona. Everytime I hear No More Love I think of that trip because I made out with my cousin's best friend Rene while listening to that song. Ohhhh memories.

God lives underwater broke up. They did make another album after life... its called "Up off the floor" its more like their album empty. its pretty good but it was never released. one of the guys from glu sent me it in the mail. you can download the whole album off the internet tho. some of the songs (that i remember): fame, tricked, 1% (long way down). i forget the other names because its only the cd and no artwork or track listing on my cd of it. another good song by them thats on the depeche mode tribute is "fly on the windscreen"

they were gonna release up off the floor on 1500 records but it went bankrupt and it had the rights to their album and they would have to pay get the cd rights back from them so it was never released.

thanks mylittlesister :) it always helps to break stuff into components.
thanks MachineofGod for the heads up on the "new" album too. Life in the So-Called Space Age came at a very important and memorable time in my life, so GLU's sort of an integral part of my musical development.

I like "Behavior Modification", "The Rush is Loud", "Can't Come Down", "From Your Mouth", "Rearrange", "Alone Again", "Dress Rehearsal for Reproduction"...basically the whole Life in the So-Called Space Age album except the last 2 tracks :)

just to warn you, though...they're more rock than anything. more delicate and slick than most rock but they make it clearn that it's the main idea, esp. in "Rearrange" and "Alone Again". Enjoy :)

i didn't much care for the songs (or lyrics) on their most recent (unreleased) album tho i did like "from your mouth" and a few gems off the aforementioned life in the so-called space age

i agree with you license, glu was around at a very important time in my life too. i have seen them in concert twice and saw that the guitarist played on an esp and used an electronic drum set. i couldn't make out the make of it. the second time i saw them they were having all sorts of mechanical problems and had to stop early. the sound would fade in and out. so i couldn't make out what type of equipment they used....... also thank you machineofgod about the new glu album...
that song on that depeche mode cd, "fly on the widescreen" is better than the original. that's all i can say about that tribute album though. it's good, but nobody can duplicate depeche mode. that tribute is probably one of the best tributes around though, i usually don't care much for those. once i saw glu was on it i had to get it. thanks again for the info.

I wish I could've seen them live. a girlfriend I once had said that they were very good live (she was smitten with the vocalist)
I really like the Hooverphonic song from that tribute album, even better than the GLU one. the Monster Magnet one is surprisingly decent too.

GLU are terrible live, they also really don't care about the audience. they stopped one of their songs 2/3 way through (it was "from your mouth" too, the song everyone wanted to hear) and just stood around for 10min drinking beer before playing another song and then leaving.
