go get native waves gold pack right this very minute. its a dx plug pack but you can find a freeware dx/vst wrapper that lets you use dx plugs in vst programs.
this pack has wonderful reverb that beats all plugs ive heard and it has some other fun weird plug its that just have a quality that can only be described as pro.

Waves plugins are pretty neat. Native Instrument spectral Delay is nice.

You can make your own FX with Sounds Logical Wavewarp (modular FX building program), you can even do spectral morphing with it, which I haven't seen before. Tons of totally insane presets are included.

Spectral morphing is when a program analyses an audiofile and makes a diagram of the frequencies and amplitudes through time (like the devil face in Windowlicker) It then does the same with another file so the program 'knows' the characteristics of both files. Now it can graduately apply characteristics of the second file upon the first file(and the other way round). There are good(better than wavewarp) examples on the Kyma website(http://www.symbolicsound.com/)
