The thing is, where I come women usually give you a wierd look when you try to open doors for them. I used to always open doors for women. Now I don't, because when you do they seem to think you want to get with them, and stop talking to you.

Well that's just dumbness on a womens' part. Girls should just assume that unless a guy clearly expresses interest they're just friends. The problem comes when girls try to initiate. Grr.

Okay, well you say when you open doors for them they give you a funny look. It's probably because they're not used to guys doing that kind of thing. It's a tendency for (most, and I'm not saying all, this is just a stereotype) guys to step back and let someone else take control. But (and I suppose this is a personal opinion, so don't get mad at me anyone) I think it's a guy's place to take the initiative the majority of the time. On the other hand, a girl's tendency is to step up and pick up the slack, and take control. But females should (again my opinion) be the followers, and encourage guys to take the lead. Now back to what I was saying, Chicks aren't used to that, so they give guys funny looks when they do things that resemble initiative in the slightest. Opening doors for example. And they jump to conclusions and assume that a friendly opening of a door means "I want you".

Hmmm. I don't know. Feminism runs high where I live. If you try to take control of a situation, and a woman is involved, a lot of the time they will subvert any of your suggestions in order to maintain any control they may have had in the situation. I am not necessarily talking about relationships here, but just everyday things.
Its really easy for members of either sex to misconscrue what members of the opposite sex intend through their actions. Mainly because males and females think differently.

everyday things are a little different though. i think we should all just relax and do what comes naturally, because it's something we want to do, not to prove that we can.
