what's the point in hurtling insults. it is not going to solve anything, it's just going to create more tension than already exists, and ... well you see what I mean. There is no point in trying to convince each other that drugs are bad or good or what the fuck ever. We are going to have different opinions, and that's the way the world is. I'm not trying to tell you guys what to do (well, actually I am), but I tell it to you with the sole purpose of creating a more peaceful and respectful environment.

according to REFLEX you need to have lost 7 or 8 friends to drugs in order to be classified as an expert on drugs... it seems that people who do drugs can't stand to hear anyone call drugs stupid, when all it is is an opinion... I fucking don't care about your opinions that drugs are ok, so why do you guys care about our opinions about how drugs are bad?

you've not offended me, but i have to say that expressing your anti-drug opinion without replying to the arguments of those are "pro-choice" on drugs is a bit annoying. you radiate an attitude of "i wont listen if you dont agree with me"

yeah, lets just get along people... if sum1's being ignorant then maybe its just lack of experience, so you just need to show/tell them the other side of the story, or wotever. Appeasement is the way here!

it's not the opinion that drugs are bad that is making people upset funk. if you would read you would see that it's the innability to address the issues. everybody has an opinion, but you are unwilling to discuss it, why say it?

Sorry, it's just that I don't like getting too involved in these arguments. I know what you're saying, I'm listening, but I don't agree. But do what you want, it's totally fine... I don't go overboard and put down drug users, do I? I just say it sucks for ME... I'm anti drug, that's all.

goddam funkmaster -- according to REFLEX bullshit -- REFLEX was making the point that losing a friend or friends does NOT make you an expert on drugs -- he was criticising chris because chris was acting as if he knew all since he lost a friend to drug abuse - don't misquote, it causes fake issues.
(PS just because you don't want to hear our opinions, that doesn't equate with us not wanting to hear your opinions...that logic is not necessarily reversible)

"There's a very interesting book by Lakoff and Johnson, that famous thirties singing team, it's a book about metaphor, it's called Metaphors We Live By. They give a very clear example of the effect of metaphor. They say we use in our culture the metaphor, argument is war. All of our language about argument "she defeated him", "he attacked her position", so on and so on, they are all arguments that relate to fighting.
When we think about the process of arguing, we tend to then reconstrue our possibilities in terms of that metaphor. What Lakoff and Johnson say is suppose that somebody had said argument is dance, suppose that was the dominant metaphor. So instead of it being seen you have the process where one person defeats another, it becomes a process where two people together make something beautiful between them. We could have that metaphor for argument, we don't."....
would be cool if we did tho...
(Read that today in a Brian Eno essay...kinda applicable in way...)...

Heh, I haven't made a new track in a long time, I just have a bunch of incomplete little snippets of tracks. I think I'll start fucking around with it again this week, I mentioned it in some other thread. Maybe I'll come up with something. I had writer's block and I give up easily. :-) My music sucks anyway!

well ophecks, keep at it and you'll be surprised how quick you get better! :)
JAND: if you read people like ANTON WiLSON and CHRiSTOPHER hyatt and TIM LEARY...they are also interested in semantics &Tc -- hyatt actually wrote a book on the subject that you speak of --- have you heard of metaprogramming? its where you reprogramme your brain -- interesting -- anton wilson also wrote an entire book without using the word "i"... :) youll notice how posh people say "one" instead of "i" -- one digs that detachment ;L)

well, i just finished my internship where i was making smoked salmon, blood sausage, salmon and beef tartare, and other classic bistro stuff.
next weekend, i got a dinner coming up which I am hosting.
Here's the menu:
1. grilled mediterranean vegetables with parmigiano reggiano
2. salmon tartare with taro matchsticks and nori, lemon yogourt sauce.
3. saffron risotto with foie gras 4. cream of corn soup with "BLANCHE DE CHAMBLY" white beer, wild rice corn and mushrooms garnish.
5. filet mignon with herb mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, red wine sauce.
6. three quebec cheeses with apples and nuts. 7. mango ice cream with red wine poached fruit salad.
everything will be made by me, except for the bread for the cheese. it will be fun. it's for my wife's family (about 25 or 30 people), and a few friends and family.
