it's 25 degrees outside (that's 77 degrees fahrenheit for
you americanly challenged)

must be a new record for may or something.. of course, I
live far up north so this may not be very hot for many of
you, but being here it's like extreme dude.

joda, gikk greit nok det tror jeg.

så du liker up, bustle du også ? noe annet på ninja tune
du liker ? selv er jeg mer eller mindre altetende når det
kommer til ninja; cinematic, amon, animals on wheels etc.
derimot den nye herbaliser var veldig, veldig skuffende...

Norwegian slang?

bustle as in up, bustle & out, the ninja tune
revolutionaries.

skuffende = disappointing/betviken (??). meaning that the
latest herb album is shite in my opinion.

[in great english for benefit of norwegianly challenged]

I like a lot of the ninja toons releases.. amon tobin,
flanger, funki porcini, ninja skins, clifford gilberto.. the
clifford gilberto album used to be my favourite for a long
time.

I'm not all that into herbaliser, haven't got any records or
anything, but I saw them (herbaliser band) live on samfundet
a couple of years ago.. that was great! the funny thing was
that it was two weeks or so after nightmares on wax played.
a good month for samfundet :) I have a hard time convincing
Ã¥smund and the rest of the new to trondheim crowd that
samfundet used to have a lot of good live nights.. the last
couple of years it's been really bad (except for bodegaen
which has had some really funky ass house nights with ralph
myerz and the jack herren band etc.)

the guy in the picture is the famous actor ernest borgnine.
you have probably seen him in epics like gattaca, 'laser
mission', 'future cop' and 'christmas in the brothel'
amongst others. squarepusher named a track after him.

sido, skuffende betyder ngt som man trodde skulle vare bra
men som inte var så

yeah, i totally agree about the samfundet thing. a couple of
interesting bands now and then, but interspersed with more
or less crap. i can imagine NOW and herbaliser was a great
experience! i think the last year has been terrible, only
jimi tenor being something i really wanted to see (but i
couldn't, because i was invited in a birthday party ); ).
how about blæst ? they've had a few good bands/dj's
playing...

jimi tenor on samfundet was ok. too bad you missed it. my
fav tenor record is out of nowhere (with that polish
orchestra), but naturally they couldn't play any of that
live.

blæst is really something.. one of the top concert scenes
in norway (along with blå and agora). I've been there many
times this last year..

blæst had booked plaid and squarepusher but that got
cancelled. Then I got tickets for the same concert in oslo
(betong, chateu neuf), but then they cancelled because sp
got sick. Major letdown.

Also, they booked FSOL for this january (I think), but they
cancelled. Got goldie and teebee instead. Goldie sucked, but
teebee is a dj genious :)

If you like to go out dancing to warm funky house or hard
drum and bass, blæst is an excellent club. Wish they had
more electronica concerts though. The new owners are more
commercially minded, hence the rock/punk/crappy nights they
have a lot of.

yeah, i heard about the squarepusher thing; he had to cancel
a whole bunch of dates. i was also at the goldie/teebee
concert, and i totally agree; teebee is brilliant, but
goldie seem to have lost his touch over the last few years
(his '95 timeless is a classic though). blæst have got some
cool nights with some old, hardcore 70's funk and some nice,
dark drum n' bass as you said. it's been a while since they
had any interesting concerts though. i think there might be
a market for more electronica nights or clubs up here.
seems like there's a growing interest in the field. i think
more and more gets fed up with the pretty obvious top20
routine after a while, and want something else to broaden
their horizons.
