Yees, I read that there's 2 in crunch but forgot the others

net.

yeah, wMw it's 2 peeps, and one is Dave T. The first LP sold
approx 2750 on mas i recall, you shouldn't worry about who
crunch are it's not the point of it all, it was a different
reason why crunch didn't give names first time round ...

your tunes are mad !? i liked checking them out but was
listening to them through my laptop speakers ?? downloaded
one to check out in the studio ...

Obviously crunch signing to my label wasn't exactly
difficult under the circumstances i have know one of them my
entire life and the other one for about 19 years now !!
sometimes things just happen i guess : )

You're right, I guess I was interested in talking to you but
couldn't think of anything more interesting to ask than the
true identies of crunch. But at least knowing them (for
sure), it's easier to search for more music by the same
creators as the *exceptional* C1. If you're in charge of
releasing the music as either 12 inches or cd's, you have MY
vote at least to release this stuff as cd's instead....
*wow, you think my tunes are "mad"* That makes me glow
introvertedly. My current computer setup is really low
quality so laptop speakers go along nicely with that theme,
heh heh... I probably wouldn't hesitate much to sign to your
label if you wanted but I won't get that far ahead of
myself, and you can openly reject my music with absolutely
no hard feelings:). Thanks so much for bothering listening
to it. Perhaps I could send you a cd with some of my stuff
on it. A lot of the tracks on that mp3.com page aren't
exactly exceptional, more just for fun, but a few I think
are pretty wicked (like "a fractal brewing of fraggles")
despite the limitation of the free software. Later.

heh...youre truely obsessed with them arent you m?...when
autechre had that q+a session a while ago...didnt you ask
them about crunch too?

send the cd to the address on the colony www and i'll sit
down build up and listen to the lot . . .

we don't have any plans to release any other music than the
stuff we have already planned from crunch (col01.12" /
col02.LP / col03.Vid ) and then psi-spy (col04.LP) . . .

i am always looking for stuff though, have you checked out
the colony show on groovetech.com i just play what i want
and i normally want to play pretty fukked up stuff, i love
it !!!!! ACID rules . . . i play alot of the demos i get
sent and plug em so it's worth it even if i don't ever
manage to release them. I wish the funds were there to do
more but theyre not yet : (

did you ever check out gearhound on matador ? or that skam
cassette that went around about a year ago if not a bit
longer ? or noodles foundation ? bit_meddler 7" / homewerk -
luke vibert on planet µ ? i remember you saying you liked
obscure stuff but really this lot aren't so obscure but real
tough stuff : ) that's the kind of stuff i play on GT and
listen to for relaxation.

what other stuff do you like or recommend wMw ?

yeah wayout, heh heh. I guess I have a special place in my
heart for crunch... sort of like baron von picklefoot has a
special place in his for cheese I bet.

Great! I plan to send you a "demo" whenever I have one ready
anyway... :)

Of all the stuff u mentioned, I've only heard of bit meddler
(loved the only track I heard) and luke vibert (as wagon
christ which I don't remember liking much) Great new
suggestions, thanks!
My favorite music I know of/have heard you probably already
know:

autechre (lp5,ep7,chichlisuite,trirep,peel2)
crunch(1)

otto von schirach (8000 bc, escalo frio is not quite as
good)
aphex twin (rdjalbum,com2dady,windolckr)
richard devine (lipswitch)
download (eyes of stanley pain)

I'll think of less popular ones later.

is soulseek still working for you m?
...or are you still recovering from my chat bot attack?

Your chat bot figured out how to open the portal to the
logged off zone and was terrorizing me while I was logged
off. This was enough motivation to figure out how to make it
work again. So now I'm logged on and files actually download
again (getting crunch laurel now, muah hah ha haaa) but I'm
afraid to leave since chat bot is probably waiting for me.

smart motherfucker isnt he?...dont worry...i think hes
terrorizing the people in the 'beer garden of eden' chat
now...so youre probably safe as long as you stay out of
there

So you get funds from the albums you sell I suppose. Well
crunch is wicked like autechre and they're on... your
label(!)... Hopefully they're creations will get discovered
and people will want to buy them, giving you more funds to
release more stuff:) Of course, some people like me are
downloading laurel for free off of soulseek right now, (I
don't have a 12 player).

I don't know how long it'll take for me to assemble
something decent to send from my unorganized debris, maybe a
long time. This is cool though since it's forcing me to go
back and organize all my stuff. I went to groovetech.com but
I guess I need realplayer... So your music is psi-spy?

offline colonymike from london (United Kingdom) on 2002-05-18 04:10 [#00224386]
Points: 396 Status: Regular

yeah i did the psi-spy stuff on the colony www - i did a
demo album way back under that name but it never came out
just 100 copies were made up . . . it wasn't that great
really my first stuff.

I do a few things now all with other people involved on
various labels and obviously colony but i am doing a new
psi-spy album at the moment all solo again.

I like working with people though you bounce off each others
ideas if it's the right people : )

to be honest there isn't really much money in it compared to
the hours spent it's about the same as any regular shit job
but if you love it it's worth it . . .

have you checked out

www.halflife-recordings.com (abstrakt knights)

how long have you been putting tracks together ?

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2002-05-19 06:40 [#00225378]
Points: 21423 Status: Regular

Unfortunately those psi-spy mp3 links won't play for me...
it's stuff that was done on actual musical instruments as
opposed to computer construction (from what I read)? That
and crunch seems like a strange combination of stuff to
release together, heh heh.
It's very rare to be able to make any money at all doing
what you love. That halflife site is "temporarily
unavailable" and was yesterday too. I've probably been
making music for about 10 or so years, but probably don't
have a large amount of decent stuff to send at all. Colony
is an awesome name for a music related thing btw, like music
it's a group of units thought of as a whole.

Halflife finally worked, that's site's really cool visually,
like that old game where you're a tank and battle other
tanks and ufo thingies in a plane with triangles... It
played straight line by abstract knights, a cool little
loop, something that would play maybe between missions, like
during a mission briefing in a war simulation videogame. :)
