I just listened through Tall, Dark, and Handcuffed his new album and it was a BIG let down. It seems there's always been two sides to Cex: his CD smart, nerdy intelligent IDM side[which kicked booty], and his wanna-be rap star LIVE side[whihc sucks]. Well the rap star killed the IDM guy. His new CD is just Cex trying to rap over pretty good, but repetitive beats.

i think his production skills have improved big time in the last few months. personally, as a hip-hop fan, i actually appreciate his lyrics and flow. i can understand how a fan of idm and not hip-hop would react strongly against it though. anyway, i think his new cd is great, but it's not like you won't be hearing any "old cex" again. it's just one album. another one is coming out in the fall, and it's going to have (brace yourself) more guitar than before. he's also involved in some other projects. anyway i hope the new cex cd grows on you. if it doesn't, you can always download the instrumentals (which are being released on promotional 12"'s to radio stations).
