Does anyone know any good soul achingly depressing string songs. Any kind of string arrangments violin, cello, etc. The simplier the better. If I'd give an example of a song that embodies what I'm looking for the main theme from Requiem For A Dream Soundtrack would be it.

Some of Craig Armstrong's stuff is ok. Hardly avant-garde but nice enough.

I listened to barber's adagio for strings long before I heard the William Orbit version. whenever I hear it now, I can't get Orbits version out of my head. It's quite catchy, not the vorst 'classical remix' I've heard.
