New "IDM" Artists

Well I thought we could talk about electronic music
since thats whats this board is about. Just thought I'd
give shout out to some of the newer younger aritsts in the
field. It seems that best new artists are coming out on
planet-mu

Nautilius - I really like this guy, he has a 12 inch, 7 inch
and full album that just came out on planet-mu. There is
really diversity to his work. SOme tracks are glitch-hopity
which I really like, most of the stuff has some good
melodies.

Leafcutter John - Another new guy from planet-mu. Really,
really like this stuff...its really abstract more like
music-concrete than anything would catogrize as techno.
Microcontact is really good. I wouldn't compare it to a
masterpiece like confield but it has some wild sounds and
is abstract like that album

nautilis is phat! i totally dig the "scapegoat" track on the
CD (i am not totally sure about if it's on the CD).

i want to add to the list syndrone (merk records): it's like
playful AE...and very well done.

Venetian Snares - not exactly new, but all his stuff is
really great hardcore shit. The next logical step after
squarepusher

Cex- I really like "opps i did it again. some of stuff is
really shit but this guy has some great melodies in the
music.

Anything you guys want to recomend is welcome. Im
thnking of really underground stuff(nothing on warp would
count ya know

Sorry, I should have put a ;)

I shouldn't really carry on joking about it, it just
perpetuates the myth...

I thought she was pretty good, which is why I believed she
*might* have been signed, but you're right- she's not THAT
good.

Yo, Cfern, if you like Leafcutter John (the new stuff that
is going to be comming out is really fuking amazing) and
Nautilis, than check out 'Kristuit Vs Morris' on M3rck
records (here is the link to his website
http://kristuitsalu.com). The Rip Off Artist is also really
cool, and if you get anything by him I would suggest 'Pump'
avaiable on the Mileux Plateu label. There are a few others
that I really like but don't have the names of right now.
All on my computer. I will reply to this thread again
tomorrow with an entire list. Peas.

You know Leafcutter John also has a bunch of folk music
released as well. He has a catalogue of five or six hundred
songs that are folk.

offline Cfern from Sacto (United States) on 2002-05-08 08:11 [#00210517]

Well i don't think he released any of his folk songs.
Mabey im wrong.
ya this sydrone record is really good. think its also on
M3rck.
