I think the music is to quarky and sweet for my tastes...i like darker/colder and choppier, and more serious IDM. At least it's not planet mu, that guy sings anyone /w software nowadays...i constanly bump into ppl who say they are singed onto some division of planet mu

there's a lot of great stuff on rephlex and planet mu, but on rephlex they can be a little too kitsch. it branches into the novelty territory. but that doesn't discount some of their active roster's real talent, like bogdan, ovuca, etc.

I just love how some people use REPHLEX to call to ME, and sometimes, REFLEX Too.... and when mentioning me on the board they say rephlex, but when nanotech talks of the record company he says REFLEX? wtf.

true some Rephlex stuff is far too tacky..I for one never saw the charm of Gentle People or baby fords..but there is far too much good stuff on it..and I keep finding..unknown little gems..like a couple of months ago I found J P Buckle..nothing revolutionary..but very competent dark edgy stuff with a lot of variety..from drill to acid..

rephlex is a very varied label to me. they've got some of the biggest talents involved with the electronica scene today (bogdan, ovuca, goon, etc.) that constantly release high quality albums. and you've got the far more cheezy and mixed stuff by artists like gentle people, baby ford...etc.

flea, he release an ep about a year ago, wich is great. it's very experimental....2 trax are classical music, and 5 are sort of ambient/experimental, sounds a little like aphex's 'equation'

i reckon rephlex is a very balanced label they've released a few cheesy things but you don't buy a record wit the name the gentle people and expect autechre beats - it's nice experimental pop - check out what they released last year- some of the most out there experimental music you can get - Pierre Bastien's mecanno orchestra music - cylobs lush gong music and robert normandeau's electroacoustic music alomg with bogdans twisted electronic folk - is that cheesy ?- not at all - and anyway cut the midrange is great - play it out and see!
