The Cloak & Dagger side project album is about to be
released. And i have made 2 samples for you guys to listen
to. Let me know what you think. The Albums will be on sale
on the C&D website and we will probrobly be pressing 100
copies on vinyl. This album is made in a full blown pro
studio. Not just in fruity loops and burnt on a cd. Check
it.

Sound Clips:
A Healthy Dose
Warface

i would listen if i could......
but my mp3-listening plugin (quiktime, or whatever) keeps
crashing like 5 seconds into the sound file..... not matter
what it is (it did it for this, and for quoths too)

its the type of program that plays the mp3 in the ie
window..... how can i change the file associations so that
it plays in some other program? (ie winamp?)

i seemed to be knowlegable about computers in the 'firewall'
topic.....

It took you a full blown studio to create that...two of
you!
um okay sounds so lush and polished...that's the thing about
studios you tend get so wrapped up in how good a sound
sounds that you forget to do anything with it...it happened
to me..I have been making music since I was about
12...that's about 20 years...and I have been and recorded in
a studio or two..or ten...while it all sounds great..when
you actually sit down and listen back to it..you keep going
fuck..is that I played?..and for the hourly rates you fork
out...
so in summation it's nice but nothing a bedroom musician
couldn't have created let alone a fruity looper...I could
name a dozen mp3.com artists who could produce something as
slick with nothing more than sharware...
I for one dont do slick...slick bores me..slick is the
reason I stopped listening to the overblown overproduced
Electronic Industrial about...slick is what I like hearing
when I trundle along a shopping trolley...

Archrival Thanks! and flea - nice opinion. I did not pay for
studio time.

i d/led it... i like it!

like flea said, very lush and slick sounding, really nice
production

...but i think its actually GOOD too

nice!

lucky bastard:)..no but I like giving credit where credit is
due....so do you do anything adventurous on these
tracks?..the snippets were kinda small..for me there were
hints with snare rushes and such..but other wise straight
out d'n'b..am I right?

i've seen all of the bad blood between you and flee
(everyone has?!).... and i have to say that when it comes
down to it.. .well.. the music is what really counts...
doesn't matter how you make it, as long as it sound good. i
mean, i don't give a shit how richard d james makes his
music. i just think it's really good. ...and windowlicker, i
sure would like to hear more samples. it sounds good man!

It's definitely pretty good stuff, but it doesn't sound like
anything that couldn't be done on Fruityloops... slightly
more lush, but I don't really like lush...

But I liked it a lot, it was pretty good, studio or not.

offline windowlicker from Nashvegas on 2002-05-03 23:23 [#00205106]

yea those samples are small, Sorry I am working on finishing
this album up. I will try to make a few more maybee longer.
But the songs get really flipped out in some spots with
hardcore rushes and drills. The other shit is off the hook.
Glad you guys like it.

checkin out healthy dose now,.....jazzy electronic breakbeat
tune,..clean production but not really interesting enough
for me,..(at least the short clip of it) My critic is that
it sounds to traditional.

Ok,..next in line warface:

bassy drum & bass like track,..again to basic
sounding,...sorry m8,.

U obviously took effort in producing your tunes,..100 copies
isn't much,..so I guess U financed the production
yourself(?)

Anywayzzz who cares what people think of your music? U have
to be happy with it

Yeah I find, that when people make this sort of music, it
never sticks out no matter what cause, its all over the
fuckin place and its just like throwing a drop of water into
the ocean..... slowly adding.

well then we will produce more. Thanks

cell
artificialselection
PolcXd
12X
Xanpha
orange dust
cerulean
Kalaim Badkaama
CHMC
Raimotica
and the list goes on and on..

each one of these artists is creating music that's far more
vital andchallenging and exciting than what I heard of ahem
"Cloak and Dagger"...

yeah right man... you're pulling my leg!!!! :)

I personally think my stuff is ok, but only because it's my
first attempts at music... it's nothing compared to some of
the stuff I've heard from you guys... and I doubt it's as
good as Windowlickers stuff... I really do... :)

to tell you the truth it's not competence or slickness that
attracts me to certain music..it's the willingness to throw
caution to the wind..and bungy jump without the
cord:)..windowlicker's stuff..just doesnt seem to have
that...it is very um..SAFE..

As they say .. any publicity is good publicity - and sure
enough, I got suckered into downloading these two :)

Seems quite "Goodlooking Records"-esque in terms of
cleanliness .. this should fare quite well financially ...
however, as far as my opinion goes (aside from the fact that
the clips are too short) - nice enough, not really my cup of
tea though: one can only hear a drop of water so often
before switching off .. although 'warface' has promising
elements in it ?!

good for you tho!

track 01 sounds like : sitting in an army barracks outhouse
hearing the drummers practice : pretty duff for being made
in a studio - total lack of imagination/invention/drive

I can't say I care too much for Windowlicker's stuff.
Maybe it's better than what I could do, but it doesn't sound
like anything I haven't heard before. It sounds like
listening to "Music is Rotted One Note" for the first time
in months.
I just think Marlowe and Flea are better. And Quelnt.
Quelnt has some cool stuff, too. I like most things about
the musicians on this board. Windowlicker's just doesn't
seem that great to me. Healthy dose isn't as good as the
other one.
