hey Joe-
I saw Pat Metheny in Boston last year. For the most part,
he's one of, if not, the most amazing pure musician I've
ever seen....I mean watching the guy solo was fucking
unbelieveable - it was like taking a lesson in muisc theory
(the guy would change modes sooo smoothy)

to this day, my favorite album of his is 'Bright Sized
Life'....I'm sure you know, his first album, he's 18,
playing with an equally impressive 18 year old Jaco
Pastorius, and Bob Moses. The reason why I like it (and
that double live album that came out a couple of years ago)
is that it's just pure muscianship w/o without that 'flighty
white-boy feel'. His studio albums are just missing some
umph....

but do you really have to mention him in every other post
you do?

yes, I do have to mention him in every other post. He kicks
total ass, and the people here like good music... I just
keep thinking that perhaps someone will catch on and check
it out.

I saw him in march, and I was numb. I don't think his
studio albums lack umph, he makes quality music everytime.
It is amazing the way he can make so many different sounds
but always sound true to himself.

I'm just busting on ya.....
the music is quality, maybe it's just to 'happy' all the
time....the guys a virtuoso, hands down....

and besides, I only mention him when it is pertinent. For
example, "What are you listening to right now" thread...
btw, it is "every summer night from letter from home.

or perhaps the thread where they ask, "what music do you
recommend?" or "what was the last cd you bought?" etc.

I don't just bring up his name out of the blue.
