I'd phoned the pizzaria for a schoarma-dish (I don't know
if this the right translation),....so after an half hour of
waiting,..this dude delivered my food and I payed him.

He mumbled the price,.I understood 18.50 which used to be
the price in Guilders (old Dutch Valuta),...so I payed him
18.50

EURO's that is!!!!

Dumb basterd grinned and just took off,...after finishing my
meal I discovered my dumb ass fault.

I'm still not used with the euro,..and still calculate
everything I buy backwards to guilders.

Any of U europeans had similar incidents like me?

They need to ban the 1 cent and 2 cent coins, that's the
only thing that irritates me about the Euro.

the sense of euros is that you'll able to pay equal much for
the product in different countries like in your country. but
trust me, it's wrong actually...

i don't think i'll ever stop calculating the equivalent in
guilders....

i don't think prices are equal in different countries now,
it's easier to compare prices throughout europe.

it may be annoying sometimes, but it was necessary imo...
:)

i'm not used to evaluate expensive prices in €... smaller
sums are easier...

after the introduction of the euro, I believe my expenses
have grown 1,5 times the amount of what it used to be in
guilders. pretty shitty if you ask me

Here in Finland 1 and 2 cent coins are actually not in use.
I have never even seen either of 'em.

So here people are bitching about prices being rounded to
the nearest 5c. I'm cool with it tho.

They're (=French government) are so afraid about losing
French culture,.and afraid of American influence on French
youth,.that they have special laws that forbid broadcasting
to much english songs on Radio & TV.

i don't know the precise ratio,..but it's something like for
every 1 english spoken song ,there should be 4 French
songs.

Crazy If U think about it.

Thats stupid isn't it?

I think the more Englisch you hear when you're young the
better,...
For me it started with "funfactory" broadcasted by
sky,...series like Heman & Transformers,..no subtitling no
overdub.

ahh,.the good ol'days

something funny :)

Hip Hop has also been a major influence in my (little)
knowledge of the Englisch slanguage.

My rotten grammar comes from the infamous legends like Eazy
E (NWA) & Bushwick Bill (Ghetto boys),...at 1 time I knew
all the lyrics (read: I could recite the sentences without
exact understanding of the content),..the kick-s attitude
attracted me,..+ all the 'fucks''bitches' 'nigga's' 'ho's
etc etc,.

Only now as I've matured (a little bit) ,.I understand some
of the deeper / hidden messages in some hip Hop tunes. Or
read between the lines better.

the point is : stable market place / stronger economic
position,...to form a counterweight against the US economy.

The Euro must compete with the dollar.
Smaller transaction cost in Europe,..more trading,.......

lets say just another trick to make the rich richer and the
poor poorer

i'm french too, but i'm not offended, i agree with you about
stubbornness, pretentiousness...

the french government even made a law almost preventing
people from speaking english once (fortunately, it wasn't
applied!)... and they have ridiculous "french equivalents"
for CD-rom, shareware, freeware, etc... and lots of stuff
like that... besides we have to choose between a thief and a
fascist for the elections now... -_-

They decided not to brand the currency with country of
origin in order to stop this sort of thing. Maybe they
should have done the coins as well. Do you mean that
shopkeepers are actually looking at the Euro coins and
refusing them? That's pretty lame.

I don't need 1 and 2 cent coins. I don't know whether it was
the german industry oder the german government but one of
them decided that it is better to keep up with stupid prices
like 1.99 instead of 2.00 and that's why they need 1 and 2
cent coins

There is a bill to get rid of the 1 cent coin in the USA,
not surprisingly the zinc lobby is against it (the 1 cent
coin is made primarily of zinc) and the copper lobby is for
it (the 5 cent coin is made primarily of copper).

The funniest thing is that making the coin is actually
profitable - it is made for .85 cents and sold for 1 cent...

a message to all germans pissed off about the euro.....

Eurostreik

man jetzt

Menschen in Deutschland schon 400 Millionen Euro!

BETRIFFT ALLE
-
A U C H D I C H !!!!
