Have U ever considered, or are U already making commercial (read: radio friendly) music under another name ?
I'm personally thinking about making some 2-step-like tracks under another moniker,.for the sake of cashflow.
A friend of mine has been signed recently to midtown records for 5 trance tracks. Although I hate trance ,I can imagine making some tunes to try and make some dough for further financing my studio.

If I start somewhere else now,.I probably fuck up my chances in court.(I'll spare U the details)
But uhm,..my music is working for me,.last year I had 2 releases,.some airplay,...+ I'm negociating with a production company for a musical score for adds.

If you have some 'bubbly-catchy-pseudo-d&b' tracks around 45 seconds, you can be on any commercial in America.....
but, in the end you just have to know someone....

True that Smeagle!
My first release on a comp. wasn't because I send out a demo,.but because the guy who designed the cd-cover got hold of my cd through a mutual friend.
He then told the label boss about my music,.......
This designer has also done covers for the label Musik aus Strom(=funkstorung) and Clone(=funckarma)

I know what you mean,...trying to construct a sell-out house tune,..just can't help to slip a quick breakbeat in ,..or add some signature trademarks.
HHHHmmmm,..some guy I know makes the interludes on Dutch TV for SBS 6 & Fox. He also does intro/outro music for different programs. Everytime a tune of his get aired ,he receives royalties,....basterd is already fuckin'rich.
And he was bragging to me how his 'alternative' friends were still broke and he is makin' the big-bucks with synth presets and ripping off sample-cd's
AAAAAaaaaarrrrgggg!!!

well if people continue making popular brainless, formulaic-to-an-embarassing-degree music, then the charts won't evolve -- the mass won't get educated past kylie minogue or some shit pseudo-techno tune

well the basterd followed a course in Hilversum here in Holland ,..some audio/mastering course where he had to follow an intern(?) stage (?) at some fancy hotshot studio.
He probably was at the right place/time etc and off course had a lot of luck meeting the right people who acknoledged his commercial talent.

whose a upcoming underground mc.

Theres lots of underground IDM artists that also have (secret) commercial side-projects going on,...(somebody like Nautilis pops in my mind)
The scene in electronic music isn't (thank god) as big as pop music. So people have to branch out to make some quick do.
I guess it also depends on how commercial you're willing to go,..a hardcore hip hop instrumental is commercial in my book.

Well it isn't HKU KMT if you're going to that school! I actually applied there for "composition electronic music" ,..I'm still waiting for feedback on my application.
Without giving to much info on him,.his first name is Pieter. He lives/works in Druten (netherlands)
and he actually isn't a friend of mine,.....the employer I'm sewing right now also did his insurances,..and he came often to visit and chat during breaks as he had a studio nearby the office,......

Marlowe, what's the difference between selling out and selling out with music? Making shit music is like you said perpetuating the horrible pop music but working a 9 to 5 for something you care nothing about for a corporation who's sole purpose is profit is perpetuating the horrible material focused lifestyles that so many live.
