i have no doubt that most of those"teenage killers" listen to slipknot opr stuff like that, but, hell, you can't reverse it. i've played all the video games like quake and ghost recon a.s.o. which are considered to be "extremly violent" and i also had my time in black metal and satanism. but i never had any fight nor have i ever been violent in any fuckin' way. it's pure shit.. |

even worse is that a poll here in DK showed that the most violent young people was the one that listened to maintream/pop/straight techno. the least violent was the one that listened to the metal/hardcore/esperimental (I actually think you can add IDM-listeners to that poll as almost nonviolent) |

You have a point, mate, although there is a slight difference: being violent in an "ordinary" way is one thing: being rude to people, getting into fights, all the usual stuff violent people do, and these are often "mainstream culture" people, and that's one thing. However, extreme sociopathic examples, like this school shooting is another and it is pretty obvious why journalists would link it to artists who champion sociopathic behaviour (M. Manson, Korn, Slipknot, Black metal etc.) You are danish, but, since you've been into black metal, I assume you know the story about Count Grishnak killing Euronimus back then in the early nineties (was it '93 or '92?) and also about certain Emperor mambers being in prison for arson/ violence against gay people. I'm not claiming that kids listening to slipknot are going to be more violent than those listening to Britney, but it is obvious why the press will claim that. |

ive heard the stories, but i'm not into blackmetal that much. I prefer Slipknot, Glassjaw, Deftones a.s.o. the more chilled out "smoking-weed-behind-the-school-with-your-mates"-mentality. I have tried to understand the black-metal scene, but I just don't get it. Maybe it's too satanic and macabre for me. I'm a peacefull guy that likes to headbang |

i once visited some audiogalaxy black metal boards and from what i can say is that they are rather dumb. there was a 1000-posts discussion if marilyn manson was a satanist or not. a guy claimed that he is a "chancellor" in the church of satan, thats why he sometimes does a very special handsign, which can only be understood by other members of the church.... aaarrgghhhh junktion: i know that smoke-weed-behind-the-school-scene, i did it myself back in school, hehe 'twas a great time in my life |

well, I was never into that smoke-weed-behind the school scene, as I don't do drugs and hate circles of friends made around such things. Which is not to say I have anything against any of you, of course. But anyway, what I do like about stanist bands (even though majority of those are ridiculous, of course) is that they at least try to break from the norm, from the mundane, even as 90% of them end up being another cliche/ norm/ dumb ass group... |
