yeah...the eMac (original Name NOT!!!)...

but yeah, they look like cool machines...I like MACS (even
if they aren't the easy-to-use computer that everyone
thinks...not a huge amount of diff between XP & OSX in
day2day use, I find...)

Windows and MacOS have become very similar, thanks to
Micro$oft nicking all the good ideas Apple had, so doing
basic things on either computer doesn't really feel that
different any more.
It's just there are soooooooooooooo many nagging things
about Windows which make me wanna cut the machine running it
in half with a chainsaw.

If I wasn't such a microsoftophobe I would have bought the
computer at our local supermarket:

P4 2GHz
256MB RAM
G-Force 4 MX
80GB HD
24x CD-RW
16x DVD-ROM
4xUSB ports
3x Firewire ports
and
every other crappy PC port there is
with a bunch of software as well.

All for EUR1299

Playstations are for new games.
Macs are for old games.

See my mate Richard Bannister's homepage for emulators for
tons of consoles:
http://bannister.org/software/emu.htm

yeah, I agree...if you wanna play games then get a games
console...

As for PCs n Macs... I find I get on a lot better with PCs
but I guess that's only because I've been using em for so
long...I have to do a lot of heavyweight stuff on computers
and somehow I feel "closer to the metal" with a PC...again,
it's an experience thing...

But if I was doing 100% graphics or 100% music and had all
my software bought for me, I'd probably prefer a Mac...

eMac? when the hell did this thing get released...sheesh i
need to keep up on the mac news.

I'm glad they have a CRT-based all-in-one for the education
markets. I had doubts that schools would fork over the
money for an LCD panel for each of their computers.

there was a rumor about a week ago of a new Mac with a 17"
CRT (ie the eMac which was released today) and over at the
appleinsider forums there were literally thousands of posts
from people explaining why Apple would NEVER release such a
machine. Kinda funny.

The new PowerBooks like really nice too.

They are beautiful machines...

You gotta love the design & the thought of that huge res
screen (1280 x 864) makes me slightly weak at the knees...

But as some of designer mates have been saying "At last!! a
machine fast enough to run OSX.."...the cynical
bastards...;)..

I'm glad Apple are out there and are still able to produce
machines of this quality...the marketplace really benefits
from Apple being so willing to push new stuff forward...

That's cool that you can hook it up via DVI to the cinema
display. That'd be such a sweet set up -- too bad I don't
have $5000 to blow :)

my Dad's got the last PowerBook that came out with 667MHz G4
and it runs OS X 10.1 like a dream.
I'm still stuck on 9.2.2 cos I run a 233MHz iMac.

i have an old blueberry iMac and i'm quite happy with it...
i have always prefered Macs to PCs :)

but this eMac looks like an iMac who'd have charged and
crashed against a wall imo... weird design -_+

(i like weird things, but not all of them...)

im a pc user, but i have to admit:
i think macs really are better computers

the operating systems is much better, imo
and PCs, and windows, steal a lot of ideas from apple

the problem is.... apples are SOOOOO over-priced!
their desktops (the real ones, not the old imacs) START at
like $2,250...... withOUT even a monitor and tech
support!!!!
and theres a big compatibility problem w/ games..... that
sucks

yeah the desktops are expensive. But it's all one package
remember, not loads of the cheapest components crammed into
a box. But the PowerMacs could currently do with a kick up
the backside.

You really do get what you pay for -- The powermacs are
designed and manufactured very well - but I do agree a
slight decrease in the price would be welcome.
