I'm going to my local cd store later today, and I only
have enough $$ for one aphex cd, but I can't decide which
one to get! help!

Get ICBYD, it's more diverse and coverse a much wider range
of styles than the RDJ Album, but they're both good

ICBYD is a great album, RDJ is a good album... plus, it's
always best to go chronological

You won't be disappointed with either, but I'd say RDJ album
is a bit more manic than ICBYD. I got RDJ first, then
ICBYD...I'm sure you won't be scarred for life if you get
RDJ first.

I reckon RDJ first, its positively brimming with manic snare
rush bonza fantastic

I like ICBYD better, but I'd go with RDJ first. That's how
I did it and reckon it was a good route.

yeah, go with the flow, spoonz: RDJ album. it's probably my
all time favourite aphex album besides saw85-92. fast,
furious and deliciously manic.

it depends on whether you want something manic or a little
mellower.

go with ICBYD. then you won't have to buy another record for
eight months.

I would say RDJ first, but only because ICBYD is so good. I
think it's important to experience ICBYD during a very
positive point in your life, and I think you'll know when
the time is right.
ICBYD is one of those "desert island" albums, for me
anyway...satisfying the whole way through (though "come on
you slags" sucks)

RDJ album is near perfection... ICBYD seems to please those
who like mellower stuff (they tend to hate Ventolin anyway),
but is still fucking good.... and so is SAW 1 and SAW 2 and
Surfing on Sine Waves... its all damn good, and essential!
you will need all of them in the next few months.........

none of aphex "sucks".

you will learn this much in good time , my child.

;D

it's all in my opinion; no offence was intended.
i've heard plenty of aphex, and I personally think quite a
bit of it "sucks," though the good aphex is quite
good.

SAW2 changed my life forever though.
acquire it, and enjoy it particularly whenever you have free
time to experiment with sleep patterns.

Yeah, just rob someone for the cash, or sell your body.

ICBYD was my first aphex, and its still my favorite..

both albums are great, but i prefer ICBYD. you can't go
wrong with either one.

ICBYD might be better value for money quantity wise...plus
it complies a lot of the early stuff..though RDJ if it is
the version with Boy/Girl EP tacked on at the end...that's a
very good deal...

ICBYD always seems to stay around my top Aphex Twin
albums... It was my second Aphex purchase, but I wanted it
as my first... Although the RDJ album is great, ICBYD is
just on another level... definately get ICBYD!!!

ICBYD is just fucking excellent.
it really does sound fresh to me, even after three years.

i tend to prefer the rdj album to icbyd...
the latter just has to many tracks that get boring after a
while
at least the rdj album's lesser tracks are pretty short

First off I will point out the fact that besides me having
MTV's AMP that got me into aphex because of the boy/girl
song being from the RDJ album ICBYD was my first straight up
RDJ anything, probably still my favorite today next to
drukqs and saw 85-92, and maybe afx ab3. that doesn't mean
i don't like windowlicker, ctd, RDJ or saw v2. I like them
both, everything has a time and a place. That doesn't mean
I'm not crazy it just means that i'm too lazy to be anything
but chill. I'm still crazy, i just hold it inside and let
it fester into uncontrolable fits of insanity all the time.
It's gotten to the point now where I can't even tell the
difference anymore like I do crazy shit without even
thinking.. or wait, maybe it's becuase I am crazy? not even
drugs can help me!

Shit, tough one. I think the RDJ Album is slightly better...
SLIGHTLY... but I Care Because You Do is so perfect... I
don't know. I can't fucking decide. They're equal. Forget
what I said above, I'm just tired.
