BOC :: Inferno

from the vocal chops to the generic beats & atmospheric
loops, sounds like it was generated via an AI plug-in on
FLStudio

just got back from the listening party, snagged the deluxe
vinyl and goodie bag. this is gonna take alot of listens to
digest. sound quality was shit at the record store.

How come a record store can't get decent loudspeakers well
set up?

Gen AZ Trans Folx concerned they can be deported by ICE for
listening to BOC

My theory is that the BoC boys wanted to go to Inferno after
their death but, being too well-bread to commit anything
unlawful, they chose to release a dull album, which God
would blame them for by sending'em to Hell.

Marlowe opin is always high horse and worth less than a gen
z redditor... but yeah man its a little too clean and
generic. The beat work itself is better than the great
Marlowe proclaims tho.

Only track i want to keep listening to is Age Of Capricorn

Nothing here approaches Split Your Infinities on tomorrow's

goes.

Listening again now after 2 days of forbearing.

Sounds like an old BoC albom not listened to for years, like
TCH or TH.

there is about to be a "deluxe" edition of their 3rd album
with Jon Foster singing. I have been waiting for this
forever.

Picked up the cassette. A third of this is the absolute best
work they've ever done, an EP's worth that tops their entire
catalog.

What's left might be their best in the last 20 years, and a
couple of tracks I wouldn't have known were them if it
didn't say so on the tin.

It feels like an explosion of pure confidence and some of
the finest producing I've heard on any record.

Fine production but lack of good melodies and beats.

Who cares about fine production for a band we loved even
with the dirty sound of old cassettes?

"Fine production but lack of good melodies and beats."

I completely agree with this. The vocal stuff is neat but it
gets old.

The best drum bit is on the word becomes flesh from 1:47 to
2:02. I rewound that bit maybe 30 times. Shame they drop out
the mechanical sounds for the rest of the track, im just not
too interested in embryo dialogue after a couple of listens.
Ill revisit it on acid or something someday.

That 15s part in "The Word Becomes Flesh" is very nice
thanks to its syncopated rhythm and richness in the
counterpoint. (Two elements lacking almost everywhere else.)

Also you're right that the mechanical texture of the sounds
is super, reminding me of the best Autechre (Chiastic Slide
for instance).

From my side, the day it came out I watched the sun come up

Couldn’t be more chuffed about its existence.

I keep thinking about all the people that died without
hearing this. I then think about the people that died before
BOC even started. I think we need to reset the Universe so
everyone ever can listen to the new BOC album, the main
virtue of which appears to be that it's "well produced".

i quite like it
second disc is a lot more interesting, far more fleshed out
compositions that go in unexpected directions also some of
it is pretty unnerving (cool), i really like "all reason
departs" it's holding the whole album together imo
