I just saw Autechre for the very first time in Mexico City
just some hours ago, it was nuts, super nice show, some
folks really wanted to dance... or bounce, hope I can repeat
the experience again in my lifetime

I "saw" / heard them in Warsaw on August 10th. The venue was
terrible, no airco, I had to walk out about half an hour
before the end.

But the mix was amazing. Lots of beat-based moments, then
some great ambient moments. Closing my eyes, safeplugs in
ears, trying not to notice people "trying to dance to
Autechre" around me, just focusing on the music. I didn't do
any drugs or alcohol beforehand - great experience
nonetheless.

Comparing this one to Ae gig in Krakow, Poland I went to 2
years ago - that one was more spacey, and the venue was
better air-conditioned.

No redbulls were sold and MC Conrad didn't show up.

As I said, apart from the poor venue condition - this might
be my fav Ae gig I've been to.

Comparable only to 2005 at Maria Club in Berlin - which, as
I know, had more or less the same setup as the Live Geneva
2005 set.

Seattle show was good. There were two shows and I went to
the later one. They basically played the whole Lyon set
again. Apparently the first set of the evening was all new
stuff, so a bit sad about that. A confused asian guy on
drugs kept backing up into me even though I stuck to the
sidelines, like ass first into my groin. I had to push him
away (hard) like 10 times. Overall im getting over live
music the same way im over going to see a movie in the
theater... where 4 black kids sit down right infront of me,
open their phones and dont shut the fucking fuck up for the
whole thing (this was Oppenheimer, my last visit to the
cinema).

No smart watch, but was talking with an older guy in line
about how 10 years ago I would probably be trying to find
lsd or mdma before the set but now at 41 all I wanted was
some pepto bismol.

Black People talk in the cinema because they tired of your
white ass on the screen and they're wrestling back the
narrative.

okay but we can agree they sounded like birds? i'm pretty
sure bird synthesis came out in the last few years.

the later part of the show was some sort of "break beats"

i plan on combing through different soundboard uploads of
this tour because i was under the impression that perhaps
they essentially load up the same big project every show to
noodle about in and just shut everything off at the end,
starting over again the next show by launching from the same
template, but going in different directions over time. i'm
not sure this is the case though.

I hear a rusted mechanical rooster in recury and a bunch of
birds at one point in tankankern. Not in the new live stuff
though. The stuff feels like its more on an abstract plane
so I dont visualize many earthly things.

Spherical kicks and rectangular snares, crystalline shards
of sound, spliced with cottonish textured bits. Little
swooshes like the white trails indicating physical motion
you might see n comic books. This is close to the sort of
patternized visuals autechre automatically conjurs for my
brain. No people, earthly landscapes or animals though.

I picture the same sort of stuff listening to them on acid,
but the main difference is that acid makes it feel more real
than abstract, almost a genuine physical space I can enter
and depart at will. The ability to do that fades immediately
after a trip, but the space remains accessible at a
distance.

My brain would conjure these abstractions for like taylor
swift too, the production part anyway. A singer is always a
human being overlaying and usually (but not always) ruining
a perfectly good abstract landscape.
